Well kept, very clean hotel with spacious modern rooms. Excellent breakfast with homemade produce. The adjoining restaurant served very good italian food, perfect meat and homemade pasta. Great wine selection. A very good stopover hotel and we’ll be back!

Hotel in the heart of the saarland, Flats, Lofts, a Suite room and comfort rooms
Finally writing a review for three days we stayed last April! We are a family of five and the rooms were large, modern, beautiful and super clean, the staff was kind and helpful (especially with our lack of German) and the location is great! There is a great bakery across the street! We would highly recommend and would stay again!

The rooms are not big but very clean and comfortable. You can see and feel that they are build to please. The only downside are the many stairs as the rooms are under the roof and there is no elevator. The breakfast was delicious and the service very warm and friendly.

We visited Saarbrücken during a tour of Christmas Markets. This was a new city in Germany for us. We like to visit a couple of new cities each trip, and use the train system to make our way around. The Hotel Fuchs is a ten-minute walk down the pedestrian walkway from the train station. Pick up your room key using the key code sent to you and voila! you have access to your room. Breakfast is super, with lots of interesting choices in a cute room downstairs. Fresh egg dishes are available as you wish, just ask. The folks in the front office are friendly, speak wonderful English, and can also direct you if you need to find a specific place in town (we needed to find a post office!). The room was clean and lovely. We did not mind that the door was glass, as some have noted. The room we had overlooked the courtyard and was very quiet. The only caveat is that there is no elevator. If you cannot carry your own bags up the stairs, then you may wish to find a hotel with an elevator. We greatly enjoyed the market and the local restaurants. The shopping street was handy, with lots of great stores. We also walked across the river to the museums, and walked back down through town and across the main bridge to the train station. Saarbrücken is very easy to navigate and a good town for walking.

The hotel is at the mainstreet and managed by the "Hotel Stadt Püttlingen" which is a 5 minuted walkway away. Alte Post has no own reception. The reception staff was very very friendly, a really good experience. The parking is free which was also a plus. The Wifi worked very well and was fast. We had a room on the second floor and there was no elevator and obviously nobody to help us with our luggage. The room was clean and tidy. We had booked a double room and ended up having two seperate beds. The beds were ok just very small but the pillows really sucked. Very annoying was that the next morning the cleaning staff showed up at 10 30 while checkout is at 11 and made us feeling bad that we let them wait another 30 minutes. Overall it was ok for a night but next time I would book the main hotel just for the convenience of having staff around. It is not a lot more money anyways

We stayed at Hotel Sonnenhof on our way back to the UK on a motorcycling trip. Upon arrival, the owner showed us go our room. The room overall was clean and adequately sized. Some features of the room were a little tired but on the whole everything was still functional. The description of the hotel said that WiFi was available in the hotel rooms but we were unable to connect whilst we were there on any of our devices. We were tempted to try the onsite restaurant but were put off by the smell of tobacco smoke in the restaurant. Although, the restaurant was no smoking, the adjoining conservatory was not and the smoke and smell was in the restaurant. Not pleasant as a non smoking couple. Overall, we had a very good nights sleep with no disturbances. Ok stay!

They were not helpful at all. The weather was extremely hot and they gave us a room on the ground floor. so we couldnt leave the windows open as we were on a walking street and across from a cafe, noise and heat. Not good.
