Great place to relax and enjoy different onsen and beautiful japanese decoration. Something like a japanese festival on food court, dress up on traditional costumes and get on the mood. It's fantastic!

I think this is the newest hotel in Naruko town. This town has steam coming out from manhole and sulphur smell is strong here. Hotel room has air purifier but I can still smell the sulphur. We were staying on the highest floor with great view of the town. Hotel is located on the highest location in the town. The narrow streets make it a little hard to find, you just need to head up the hill. Other hotels around this town look old and dated except for this modern hotel. It is quite big with 4 private bath. You don’t need to reserve and can use it as long as it is empty. At the bath common area, there is extra service of free yakult drinks. I tried the common indoor bath which is huge and the smaller outdoor bath also has free apple juice beside the bath. But the open air bath is a little walk from the indoor bath and you may catch a chill if you are not careful. Dinner and breakfast are served in a hall. There are large variety of food (buffet) and if you pay extra, you will get buffet alcohol as well. You have a lot of privacy as you eat in your own cubicles in the dining hall. This hotel provides good friendly service but not much English is understood. They have a corner with a large variety of pretty yukata that you can choose from (1 per customer). There is a well stock gift shops. I bought a lot of delicious and reasonably priced snacks and souvenirs during the discounts time when I saw the advertisement in their lift. On the whole, I would recommend all to stay here if you were to go to Naruko Onsen.

Naruko Onsen is a beautiful little town steeped in the tradition of kokeshi dolls and with this amazing ryokan. The staff are fantastically friendly, the interiors are beautiful and the food lavish and tasty. The ryokan has a private onsen, open to the elements on two sides, which you need to book. Make sure you do as this is not to be missed.

I stayed with my family in Naruko in April 2013. We were 5 Australian's and my brother's Japanese wife, without her we would have been lost as the hotel staff speak very little English, which is to be expected. We would never have found this place on our own, it was so beautiful to sit in the private baths with the window wide open watching the snow fall. The hotel is mostly quiet, except on weekends there can be families with small children and the sound carries very easily through the halls. The food for breakfast and dinner was traditional Japanese, which was great to experience. There is also a LOT of food, so you'll be full. The hotel was clean and the service was great. They come into your room and make the beds up while you're eating dinner and make sure your stay is comfortable. The baths are really relaxing and I'm glad we were able to stay here,

The hot spring water is supposed to not be clear. However, i noticed while bathing a leaf came up out of the water, so I was thinking that they could keep it a little cleaner. The food was good but could offer half-buffet for dinner and i would rate the hotel better. There is not much of a view from the hotel and it seems like it is a older hotel. Although, the hotel is satisfactory, but nothing outstanding to make me not try a try to find a better place in Naruko if i go again.
