10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in Odense: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 28, 2023 Renato Branum

The quirky, millennium-old capital of Fyn (or Funen), Odense is populated by street corner sculptures of trolls and monster-footed benches. Hans Christian Andersen's birthplace is crammed with fairytale-related attractions. A plethora of castles awaits in the surrounding countryside, including the 1554 Egeskov Castle with its dramatic moat, 18 miles away. Bike or walk to visit manatees at the zoo, open-air museums, the impressive cathedral, the art cinema and bustling cafés, or see the town by riverboat.

Nice room with a grand breakfast

Reviewed By selisa1333

The room is nice, clean with much space. The breakfast was also a very filling breakfast, plus it was super tasty! The owner Brian was really friendly and understanding. Even though I came later, than expected and checked out one hour later. You could also ask him anything and he helped me to carry up my luggage. Unfortunately it was quite far away from the city center and the public transportation isn't really good in Odense. So I had to walk all the way with my heavy luggage. I also didn't feel really welcome, since I came later and I almost missed breakfast, since I wasn't sure, if he always notified me, when there's breakfast. Since I couldn't speak Danish I felt quite secluded in the yard, so I recommend solo travellers to eat breakfast in their rooms. He also didn't give my money back? But it was a small amount of Krones and I made a lot of mistakes on my first B&B....

Staff is friendly and professional. They have positive attitude and passion to their job. Breakfast is fresh and it is nice to eat it under the tree. Hotel have some parkingplaces and more are just in front of the hotel. Price of the room is modest in Odense city. We had a good time in hotel. Tack to reception personnel!!!

Medium size hotel outside Odense

Reviewed By Worldtraveller1948

I selected a budget room, which was adequate: clean, comfortable, and quiet, with a similar shower room. It lacked coffee making facilities and phone. TV had international channels in German and French but none in English, but also no Porn channel which I was pleased about. No lift. Breakfasts were generous and well presented, but the hot course was only warm. Most clients (these were weekdays) were up from 6 a.m. and gone by 7.30. Owners and staff were helpful and spoke good English. The restaurant offered evening meals of high quality but were not cheap (My observation, I didn't take one). Enormous car park! It had function rooms and the one event whilst I was there didn't make any intrusive noise.

Abusive host

Reviewed By 67nicoletas

We have never been faced with such an unpleasant and abusive person working in hospitality. If you are an international, be prepared as he claims he does not speak English. He started in English but soon decided to use Google and speak in Polish. Just refused to answer us in English. We arrived at midnight and although previously announced that, he still taunted us about having to wait for us. Then mentioned a "no shoes policy in MY house" as we wanted to use house slippers. At our arrival he also insisted on opening all cupboards and showing us how to clean the sink. When we mentioned that we just want to sleep and continue in the morning, he quickly said that we can go. But the full price was paid in advance. He also reported a no show to Booking, even though we stayed there and refused our right to send a review. Overall a very disrespecful host and a very unpleasant stay. He should not be in this business. Avoid it!

Avoid this mouldy old house & its drunkard host

Reviewed By evav43

This place is quite mouldy. There are stains of mold in many places. The owner is not maintaining the house to a basic standard. All the appliances are outdated. The pictures on this& booking site do not truthfully represent the interior. The majority of the rooms are infested with woodworms. There are numerous holes on floor and ceilings, and you can see downstairs through the cracks of the floor. The "coffee maker" is made of pieces of tin junk. The entry to the apartment smells of cigarettes and mould. The microwave has only an on-off function, and not even a timer! Even my first microwave from 1996 looked modern compared to this odd "equipment". The owner is drunk almost every evening and then starts using racists slur, mainly describing the issue he has with Chinese and people not being able to speak Danish. His wife was bothering us on every possible occasion with the fact that they were "not rich". The worse thing was that they were entering the apartment regularly when we were out and stole four items from us: two UK to EU adapters, one Givenchy parfum (that was open and almost half used!) and a new bottle of dead sea salt. We made two complaints to relevant authorities, but we want to warn travelers about these odd hosts. Seriously: steal from your guests! In 26 years of traveling all over Europe, North America, and one African country, never had we this happened to us. And in Denmark, one of the best hosting countries in the world! Avoid to be able to enjoy Odense!
