I stayed in Posada Suiza last week as I work with a Travel agency and we wanted to promote a bit more of Merida. This choice was excellent, its nearby Plaza Bolivar, it has access to different restaurants and cafes. Everyday we had breakfast, which varies everyday. The rooms has excellent service, very clean, the bathrooms with hot water and the place itself its nice and quiet. Their staff very friendly and responsible. Highly recommend this place!!

Scenario - Vacation with friends and kids. We made an advance reservation for lunch, for 6 adults and 6 children. In advance we asked if there was going to be any trouble with the kids, and the person that got our reservation said that they had no problem. When we arrived, the place is really nice, and has a good ambience. They have a place you can really enjoy, and the service at the beginning was really good. They set our table up, and lunch started. They have some options or the kids, but limited. The food was good, fresh and tasty with a good amount of local ingredients. I can say that it was a fair visit. So where was the problem: At dessert, we asked the server to bring the kids some Ice Cream, but we specifically asked to bring it on plastic cups, they did not and brought it in glass cups, a problem waiting to happen. At the end, one of the kids broke the cup, and they charged us for the cup, and with a very mean attitude towards us because we broke the cup. I think that is important that owners and servers, have to be aware of this kinds of situations when you go to the places with kids. And if they are going to have difficulties handling families, DO NOT give us a reservation. It is better to avoid this kind of trouble, and bad experience for everyone.

Knowing and Remembering a bit of our history, are presented as strong indigenous elements of Valle Del Mocoties two important names contained within our proposed services; one happens to be the name of "STAY THE VERA CRUZ" which is a tribute to the Foundation Bailadores whose name originates from the fact that the Indians of that area when faced their enemies, had a peculiar way of dancing or jump, movement from one place to another and so the conquerors were called the "Indian Dancers" .... The constitution of the people as such dates from October 4, 1601 and is called "LA VERA CRUZ DE LOS BAILADORES" founded by Captain Luis Martin Martin. Another name that appears as an important element in our facilities is undoubtedly that of "brambles" which is identifying the Restaurant that serves Estancia La Vera Cruz and pays tribute to Rio Zarzales area bordering Adrian Table which is the plateau where we are located. Estancia La Vera Cruz is the commitment of a group of entrepreneurs who identified the need to offer in the hospitality context of Los Andes a new and exclusive version for discerning consumers looking for options with subtle touches of luxury and comfort. I stayed here for 3 nights in early January; this resort is truly world-class. With customer service and attention to detail like you won't find anywhere else in Venezuela, Estancia excels in all departments. My girlfriend and I took a 45min flight from Caracas to El Vigia and were collected at the airport by a member of staff. On the way to Estancia La Vera Cruz we stopped in the town of Zea to see the church of Our Lady of Mercedes and el niño de la cuchilla. It took approximately 1.5 hours from El Vigia to Estancia La Vera Cruz. It was raining on arrival - staff held umbrellas to keep us dry, gave us cocktails, took our luggage and ushered us to our room. The bedroom was amazing. Spacious, two bathrooms, a lounge, two TVs, a fridge, coffee, hairdryer etc, a really comfortable bed and a great view from the balcony looking out to the mountains and greenery. The food was delicious - the best i've had during my three visits to Venezuela - and i've been to some of the best restaurants in Caracas! My girlfriend had the traditional Venezuelan breakfast each morning of Arepa, fried beans, pork etc and I had fried eggs, bacon and toast. The fruit juices are amazing and really fresh. Try the jugo de guanabana y mora :-) Fruit and other fresh produce are grown on the land owned by the hotel making it very self-sufficient. There are a number of excellent restaurants from gourmet to pizzas. All great food, plentiful and well presented. You won't be disappointed!! In the evenings, there was a band playing in the pizza restaurant with couples and families singing along, which created a jovial and relaxed atmosphere. On the second day, we visited Laguna de las Palmas or Laguna Brava. The scenery and views were spectacular - and it was possible to get an arial view of Bailadores from the mountains and some great photos down by the lagoon itself. Estancia prepared a picnic, and provided a bottle of Myche that we enjoyed by the lagoon ;-). Afterwards we visited the Cascada de la Caru - a beautiful waterfall and tourist attraction close to the town of Bailadores. On our third day, a member of staff drove us 1.5 hours to Merida so we could experience the world's highest and longest Teleferico (cable car). Another surreal experience rising through the Andes mountains culminating at Pico Espejo, almost 4800m above sea level. Get a smoothie from MukumBatidos before you start your ascent. They are superb. Estanica La Vera Cruz also supports local artists. Some of the artwork and pieces of jewellery on display are a real testament to the talent that exists in Bailadores. Thank you Ricardo for the trip of a lifetime; one that i'll never forget. Hope to visit again soon.

We stayed in Posada Sandalo for one week and we loved every single bit of it. The posada definitely deserved the Trip Advisor award. Isabel and Jose have put a lot of effort in this beautiful place. They amazed us with their wonderful cuisine. We had dinner a their place every night for the complete week and it was just delicious. They deliver a very high standard of service. There was one room left to be rented out and (even though it was high season) Jose decided not to so that we could fully enjoy this beautiful place. We travelled with 3 young children and they loved the big garden, the ran on the grass, climbed the hill at the back of the house and had fun on the slopes. It is located in a remote area and we felt safe. The view from the breakfast table is just stunning. I would absolutey recommend this gem to anyone who loves the countryside and who appreciates good food. I almost forget to mention that the rooms are high standard too. Clean and excellent beds.

The old manor house (in the form of an "U") with central patio / gardens has six spacious elegant rooms (3 double, 3 double and 1 suite of 2 pieces - double and matrimonial) with bath / hot water, refined furniture style colonial; The library / office; The main restaurant with its kitchen; A large room for events / meetings. Completing the square shape (but not closing it) is an independent module with the picnic area (piano bar furnished colonial style) with the still life of wine in its basement with stone walls. Behind this part, there is a "temascal" (traditional Mesoamerican steam bath, resembling an oven, whose shape represents the maternal uterus to assimilate rebirth with the treatment. In its interior stones are put to the fire that are constantly sprayed with water and With some fragrant herbs) and next to another new module with spa rooms for massages, reflexology, therapies with wine, chocolate, mud (by appointment, cost separately). On the other side of the house, along with a natural lagoon, there is "La Terraza de la Poza de las Ranas" with barbecue / smoker and built-in tables for 30 diners (inside a pergola covered with trinitarias); Plus a contiguous little house with an intimate dining room for six. There is an organic vegetable garden whose crops are used in the kitchen, electric plant, mountain walks and bird watching. With the limited space of lodging, they focus on corporate events, meetings, product presentations and the restaurant (all optional meals - at reasonable prices. An interesting proposal to know the site and test the services at the same time have been the successful ones Tasting dinners accompanied by wine tastings (and different optional packages with stay plus breakfast, or even with spa treatments). I stayed there and attended a tasting dinner that consisted of five dishes prepared by the chef Marco Sterlicchi with the tasting of the same number of wines directed by the sommelier Marisbel Prieto. The dishes included: sea bass ceviche with mango, celery and coriander; Bread toast with sausage pate, caramelized green apple and tempurized shrimp; Buns; Wrap of breast with tomatoes and accompanied by a pudding of blue cheese and pure of banana; Ending with a spicy brownie. Very tasty!

I stayed here in January 2012, and it was a pleasant experience! The owner was nice and very helpful, and he runs a tour agency on the side(like most posadas/hostals here) but he doesnt mind if you use another tour agency. The atmosphere is relaxed, and I felt very safe(the owner has to buzz you in) and there is an excellent italian restaurant with genuine Italian pizzas the next street over! Good: good location, and its generally easy to navigate the city. there is Wifi everywhere, and a computer thats free to use. Good price as well Not so good: the kitchen could be equipped a little better, and the shower is primitive Its important not to expect the same thing from a posada and a hostel, and for a posada, this was one of the better I have visited.
