Casa del Turista is a Bed & Breakfast with in Mbale town, from its inception, the focus has been on supporting volunteers working within the local community, alongside our own work within the community. We do this through reinvestment and collaboration with local communities and suppliers, alongside creating charitable partnerships both internationally and locally. we believe that this ethos along with the quality of services we provide, will create a long lasting and positive impact. At it's rooftop is a Cafe and Restaurant to serve your coffees, pizzas and meals, perfect for outdoor sitting and is geographically positioned to offer a wide view of the Wanale hills.
I'd hardly call this a hostel, the rooms are private and lovely. Each has a fan and hot water in the showers. The rooftop is amazing. Great food and great people working there. Completely worth the money to have a delicious breakfast every day. If I head back to Mbale I would absolutely stay there again.

Tucked away in a quiet compound just off the main Bungokho Road, Crown suites, is a slick architectural masterpiece that offers airy rooms with luxurious yet understated furnishings and fixtures. We highlighted the beautiful architecture of the building with warm and rustic finishes to give you a homey, cosmopolitan, one of a kind hotel. Our pool, restaurant and bar, and other amenities make us one of Mbale's most entertaining and comfortable accommodations. We are a 30 minute walk from Mbale town centre and 55 kilometres from the iconic Sipi falls. Crown Suites Hotel balances the natural textures and bright decorative accents of Uganda with the minimal design and neutral tones of Europe. Crown Suites Hotel is meant to be both a second home and an homage to the beauty and uniqueness of the Pearl of Africa.
Let’s be clear, this is not a high end hotel, but the kind of place you stay when on a budget, but do not want to stay in a flea pit. The welcome was awesome, staff were accommodating, the hotel was clean, room were adequate (clean and tidy), and the breakfast was nothing to shout about, but was plentiful and sufficient. No complaints, and I would stay here again. Thank you ?

Owner greeted the team who have stayed there for many years, my first time. General appearance of property is that it needs a face lift. The power was cut off down the road and so a generator was running from 6:30 to 12:30 each day. Had 2 different rooms, one had an excellent shower the other dribbled out. However, this is not a 5 star rating but the rooms were adequate for my needs. Breakfast always had a good choice although some items were not a typical english breakfast. Fish fingers were brilliant. There was always a long wait for evening meals but there was no hurry, something one has to get used to in Uganda. The outside areas were peaceful. All the staff were polite and helpful. I have no problem with returning there on my next visit.

Clean, understated, rooms with bed/ sitting area and bathroom ensuite. Great service in friendly environment with good views of Mt Elgon off the roof top terrace. Gated complex with parking and overnight security. A little noisy during the day as it's off the main road but next to city buildings and amenities so expected. Good for business travelers but you may want to call first as it seems to have regulars and the rooms with a view go fast.

Nice view from the rooftop. And a clear view of the famous Wanale Hill. Also the night view at the bar is great! I have taken a couple of nice shots from this place and I would recommend anyone interested in night and exposure photography to try this place at night.

We visited this hotel on our trip to Mbale. The hotel reception is open 24/7. We were received by the lively staff who helped us with our luggage to our room. The rooms are well lit and have large beds and fitted with mosquito nets, comfy pillows. I loved the design of the rooms, from the wodrobe position, bathroom fitting to the balcony. All room space is put into proper use without distorting comfort. Breakfast was another highlight not to miss - from fresh juices, fruits, to freshly baked scorn, Mandashi, tea. The hotel doesn't serve brewed coffee but when i asked, management told me they will introduce Arabica coffee offering this year. Thank you for the lovely breakfast and hosting us at your hotel. We will visit next time!

We were in Mbale for 10 nights, and chose Starlight because our local friend felt it had the best security. We always felt very comfortable. It's a nice place, lovely grounds in back, nice view of Mount Wanale. Room clean, had a writing table and chair as well as an easy chair and a big wardrobe. Bathroom big with a pan-type shower, not slick or hard to get in and out (important!), had a curtain, water mixed well. Sink leaks and not attached to pedestal. Bed was comfortable with a nice mosquito net, although we never saw a bug of any kind. TV in room but we never turned it on. Fan attached to wall above the bed, set on oscillate; mostly kept the room cool except when the power was off - the generator wouldn't run the fans. WiFi in room, not quite as strong as in lounge area but there. Comfortable couches and chairs in the lounge area, and it's a pleasant place to sit and visit. Dining room chairs are comfortable enough, tables fine, everything clean. Service pleasant but communication a little difficult. Breakfast good but service slow - one Spanish omelet cooked at a time. Link sausages most days, always had fresh pineapple, watermelon, bananas, toast with Blue Band and jam. Coffee a little weak for my taste but drinkable; had African coffee a few times and it was good. Also had mandazis one evening and they were good. Didn't eat dinner, just snacks once or twice.

The hotel is clean, mosquito net provided and there is wi-fi in the dining room/lounge - good points. However, running water is not always available, breakfast is sparse, and it took three requests to have my wash-hand basin unblocked - not so much of a problem when there was no water to put in it.
