I traveled solo to Punta Arenas and stayed at this hotel for 1 night. The taxi dropped me right outside the hotel. The area seemed pretty calm. In fact whole of punta arenas was like a small town with not a lot of hustle. Checked in to the hotel, they ask for passport and tourist card (that you received after entering Chile). I am vegan. The front desk person agreed to give me vegan friendly breakfast togo as I had to leave for a tour early morning next day. So that was great. The front desk person did not agree to give me late checkout as he was unsure of when the next guest to the room were arriving next day. He said it would be fine if I left my luggage in the laundry room before going for tour and pick it up after coming back. Overall the stay was pretty good. I had forgotten my toothpaste and the hotel did not provide one. So there is a nice store nearby the hotel where you can buy stuff like this with credit/card or cash. Casa Lucy a place to rest, comfortable, cozy, spacious bitaciones, with personalized service and breakfast included, we wait ...
We stayed the night at Casa Lucy and found it quite pleasant. The room we had was simple but the bed was very comfortable and the entire place was immaculate. Lucy was very welcoming, she doesn't speak much English but can make herself understood and seemed to understand our needs. She was very sweet and helpful, sweet person. We were on our way to Torres del Paine after a long set of flights and this was a great spot to rest up for the drive up to the park. it also had a private bathroom, which we find to be a necessity. Again, so clean! Breakfast was set up for us at a time we chose. Lucy will prepare eggs and there was juice and toast, and coffee available. Again, simple but good. The coffee here is instant, but we found that at a few places on our trip. I switched to tea, which was fine. This is definitely a good place to stay, clean and comfy.

Beautiful hostel located in the center of Punta Arenas, with comfortable private rooms with private and shared bathrooms. We have breakfast included and parking service, in addition to a beautiful yard and common areas. Each room has central heating and a set of cups and electric kettle for your convenience.
We had a very good experience staying in this hostel. Our initial plan was to stay only one night and then move on. However, we prolonged our stay stepwise to 6 nights because our luggage hadn't arrived and because of the uncertain situation of the coronavirus crisis. The staff was very helpful in finding solutions every time we had to prolong our stay (organizing an extra bed etc.). Although they were very busy themselves preparing for the exceptional situation they took very good care of us.

I was originally offered a nice cabana but when I told the owner I had problems with stairs, he immediately changed me to a room that was entirely on the ground floor. I was travelling alone, but had a two-bedroom apartment (a double and a single) completely supplied with everything, including private bath, full kitchen, flat screen TV, dining table and everything else I could have possibly needed. man who checked me in, late in the evening did not speak English, but the daytime attendant was fluent and very helpful. Tip: If you pay with cash in Chilean Pesos, you can avoid the 19% VAT. Not true with credit card. Note: The bathroom was a tight fit and could use an upgrade. Not a real problem, but worth mentioning. Bring your own bar of soap! Everything else was supplied.

We arrived 5 hours before the checkin and they welcomed us so nice. They offered us an extra breakfast because of the wait. Room perfectly clean and comfortable. Triple room with 2 TVs inside, lol. Breakfast was very good, with scrambled eggs.

I took the perfect review record with a grain of salt, given the small sample size. But after staying three nights at Appelgren House, the score seems understated. The minimalist hotel exterior conceals a wealth of treasures within. Artwork and artifacts from the proprietors' very extensive world travels are tastefully arrayed on the hotel's walls, ceilings, and floors. The place is less a boutique hotel than a museum. Better yet, owner Heliodoro promptly and thoroughly dispelled our confusion about how to best access the Torres park and area surrounding El Calafate. Clearly invested in making sure we had a good time, with charm, wit, and exemplary taste, he set out an itinerary, made reservations, and even pulled strings for us. This included steering us to great restaurants and even particular dishes on the menu (before we left for Buenos Aires, he made us a list of places to eat - all have been wonderful). Every suggestion panned out beautifully. The value of a person who can help you get the most out of a substantial investment in traveling to the extreme other side of the world can hardly be overstated. I recommend Appelgren House and Heliodoro unqualifiedly.

When we arrived at the hostel, our first impression wasn’t good at all. The door was answered by what appeared to be the daughter of the owner. We weren’t greeted orwelcomedat all. She simply muttered few words towards our direktion and pointed with her head that we should come in. Inside we had to find our room in the upper floor by ourslelves and no key or anything were given to us. Later I went downstairs to ask, if we get key or towels and if there will be breakfast in the morning. ThereI finally met the owner Pamela and things began to turn to the better. Pamela is a nice, but firm person. She welcomed us properly, explained everything to us and gave us everything needed. Our room (number 5) was a 4–bed dorm, which we rented as privat room for us. The rooms furnishing is very basic, like you would expect at a hostel. They are equipped with a small flatscreen TV, which we didn’t use and surprisingly solid wifi. There is only one free power outlet to charge your staff, which I find way to little for a 4-bed room. However, the room as well as the communal space are clean and the beds are comfy. Showered can be from 6am to 11pm and is restricted to 10 minutes max per shower. Breakfast was a welcomed surprise and super tasty. All in all I recommend the accomodation, althought I found 40 US$ per night a bit expensive comparing to the 35 US$ I payed at a B&B in Santiago de Chile.
