In the late 17th century Kassel received a large influx of Huguenot refugees from France. During the 1800s, it became the capital of the Brothers Grimm's Fairy Tale Route. In 1943, the city was virtually razed by British bombers, leaving few old sights, but the 18th-century Wilhelmshöhe Castle overlooking the city remains.

Reviewed By DavidHolme2968On our road trip around Europe we stayed here just for one night. The room was very spacious and very clean. It’s a great base to stay at when going to see the local sights like the Hercules monument. They are dog friendly and the breakfast buffet was great to set you up for the day.

Visit to commorate grandfather's 100 aniversary of his death ww1
Reviewed By John MWe, my sister, and respective partners went to visit the war grave of our grandfather. Imagine my suprise when we arrived at the hotel to find it a building site. Some "renovation"work was being carried out. No tranquil lawn to enjoy za glass of wine ( just a builders yard) inluding a small crane. Also no breakfast room we had to order it from reception and collect it next morning. This was the only meal we could have as there was no restaurant. On the plus side ?? The staff were very helpful and the room was quite comfortable. Good area to visit zand a number of rely good local restaurants. As the Web site appeared to show an artists impression of the hotel when finiished we felt this was a con by booking.com

Reviewed By PeterH9379Very nice stop over hotel. Clean and large room. Close to the freeway, in a quiet neighborhood. Nice free parking garage. There is at least one popular restaurent close by. Friendly reception and fast check in. There is a morning buffet which I tried once. Very nice.

Reviewed By Roving19633042344Beim Check In werden wir erst mal 10min komplett ignoriert. Beim Abendessen offenbart sich massiver Personalmangel: ewige Wartezeiten. Es kommt noch schlimmer: Frühstück gibts erst ab 9.00 und zu allem Überfluss warten wir dann 30min auf unsere Getränke und 60min auf das Essen.

Reviewed By rj2046The bedding was neatly folded on the bed for me, all I needed was to unfold and plop down. The quilt cover was comfy and sufficient to kee the chill off from a rainy day in Kassel during Documenta. My first time in a hotel where the hallway lights have an individual switch outside each room. All it takes is to tap the first switch in the hall when returning from dinner, and the light will go out on a timer. Conversely leaving your room after dark, tap the switch outside your room. The bath was modern, and well updated. The single housemaid I encountered, cheerfully complied for my request for a second pillow. The staff was most accomodating. The only reason I dont give a 5 star rating is that it it's a plain building in a commercial neighborhood, which does not make it any less functional.

Not my best experience at all
Reviewed By mary_ARSSMy room was really small, the bed and pillow were extremely uncomfortable. The second day the cleaning lady turned down the heat and the room was freezing cold when i got back! The key system is also really bad, my coworker forgot her key so they just put it in the safe with all the other keys, to which everyone had access. I would definitely not recommend this „Hotel“.
