A warm & friendly B&B in the heart of France only minutes from exit 20 on the A20 motorway. This recently renovated village house in the lovely market village of Chaillac used to be the servants accommodation for the 15th-century chateau opposite & still retains a lot of the original features. Great evening meals served by the Host Matthew who used to be a Head Chef and has worked all over the world
My mum and I spent a night here while travelling south. Matthew couldn’t have being more welcoming and helpful - he made us feel very at home. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. We booked for the evening meal which was delicious and some of the best food I’ve eaten in France, everything was so fresh and from the local area - my first time trying Guinea foul (bought from a farm just along the road). I’d highly recommend you book for dinner if you stay here. Very pretty location and a lovely walk to the lake which isn’t far. We throughly enjoyed our stay and I’m sure we’ll be visiting again. Thank you Matthew!

Had a lovely stay here with a my partner. The house is historic and very nicely renovated. The room was big and had lovely little touches - antiques, modern en suite bathroom, chocolates, tea/coffee - etc. The garden is huge and a beautiful place to relax and read a book or have a glass of wine in the evening. Well located to charming traditional restaurants and chateaux. We would certainly recommend

The Hotel des Artistes restaurant welcomes you in Gargilesse -Dampierre in the Indre department (36). Located in the village center on the road to Saint- Jacques de Compostela , this former hotel in 1820 is a witness of the passage of George Sand and retains its authenticity. 8 Our newly renovated rooms are decorated to immerse yourself in the romantic and artistic atmosphere of the village. Our restaurant offers traditional cuisine with local products. All dishes are homemade, even the bread that is manufactured, kneaded and baked on site ! We provide you with sports equipment , such as a kayak and a canoe to discover our region , from the point of view of the river "La Gargilesse " . Come discover this boutique hotel on the Gargilesse , to relax and unwind !
We arrived at this restaurant on Sunday 16th August and asked [in my best French) if it was possible to have a table for two for lunch. The waitress said very Abruptly and very rudely NO... It's not possible!!! Then turned her back on us and walked away. There were many tables that were empty when we arrived!!! We returned later with 6 friends who were going to drink there but I told them how rude they were and we went to another place for our drinks. We were disgusted!!!!

We were stopping over on our way back from the Dordogne and just wanted somewhere to sleep. The room felt a bit like a hostel, being in a long annexe out the back but it was clean and comfortable. The evening meal was good value but the breakfast was superb, having the best cheese selection I have ever had in a hotel

In the heart of france discover the tranquil charm of a 15 th century residence and its rooms with their personnal note, equipped with private bathroom , television and direct dial telephone.A hearty welcome awaits you on your arrival. You can relax in the pleasant setting of the lounge bar with its comfortable arm-chairs.On all occasions(a trip , a stage of journey or during a stay) you will discover with pleasure the surrounding countryside "Vallée noire " and "LA CHATRE" George Sand's native land .A still resting place.
We stayed for one night in this quaint hotel, the host was just lovely and the room perfect for us. Breakfast was great, the location of the hotel is very central to the main square of La Chátre. We will stay again

Situated just off the A28 and 75 minutes from Calais, Sarah was a very friendly and helpful host. The room suited us as a couple perfectly and had a large shower room. Our stopover was on a Monday night with few restaurants open in nearby Abbeville. Our decision to drive to the lovely Saint-Valery-sur-Somme was well judged, which was bustling and had several busy seafood based restaurants.

Surprisingly wonderful dinner and stay in a modest chambre d’hôtes- passing theough for an overnight stay enroute we could have stayed longer after the lovely evening and wonderful cooking and hospitality of the hosts jayne (english) and jean (french). Not easy to serve vegetarians in france countryside/ it was superb and original dinner. Highly recommended. Music themed rooms and we took the one with kingbed also not easy to find in france. They also shared free books for the road….
