The house and rooms are very well furnished, with high quality furnishings, yet remaining comfortable. For a business trip, the 08h30 breakfast service is a little late in the morning, but the breakfast served is very good.

A quiet setting in an indigenous garden and abundant birdlife. The weather was perfect and I was grateful to have the saltwater swimming pool to dip into. The hosts, Sue and Martin, were kind and gracious and made me feel at home.

Great stay - too short

Owners great, food and service great as well and the views from the room awesome Hout Bay is one of our go to places for the open space. The sea and long beach and the weather come together and with various cafes and bars to visit relaxation is guaranteed Strongly recommend a walk on the jetties and through the harbour and also a visit to the market. Would recommend an Uber from the airport rather than a taxi (and back again) Our one disappointment has nothing to do with the guest house or location, but the airport - wanted to leave luggage there on our final day, checked internet and latest news suggested a short term bag store. Arrived at airport only to find bag stores closed That said everything else great Thank you - we will be back

What a nightmare!

We booked somewhere else and they did not leave the key with the guard and we ended up having to find somewhere else to stay. We found Hout Bay Breeze online and booked for 2 nights. The Manager (Bianca) was very helpful and friendly, but the guy who helped us check in was not wearing a mask at all. When we walked into the property there were quite a few people sitting at the dinner table having dinner (not sure if they were guests or friends of the guy who checked us in), but they were so loud and noisy (despite the rules stating that quiet times are between 21:30 and 7:00). The room that we were checked into was right next to the dining room and there is no way we would have been able to sleep with all that noise and we feared that we would be woken up with the same noise in the morning. The fact that no masks were worn and that there was no noise control forced us to cancel our booking. Bianca was kind enough to refund us fully.

Amazing experience with a large group

There were 28 of us in total and from the moment we arrived we were all so exceptionally taken care of. Every single staff member was warm, welcoming and friendly. The managers Neil and Tim were on the ball with everything. They especially set up our large dinner group on the lawns with a marque tent over the tables. The food was lovely and well prepared, waiter staff well trained and attentive. The venue itself is an absolute hidden gem, everything is so meticulously maintained. It is so beautiful there that you just want to stay forever. The rooms are all stunning, clean, fresh, comfortable, modern yet still homely. The superiors rooms are all voice activated which is great. I love the automatic black out blinds. Highly recommend this venue for any type of stay, short, long, just for dinner or even for working at during the day in their work pods. They are very equipped at handling large groups. One of the most beautiful spots in Cape Town. *Our photographer took much nicer pictures but I hope these will give you an idea in the mean time of how stunning Vida Nova is.

A wonderful place

Claudia and Hartmut are excellent hosts - attentive, knowledgeable but never intrusive. They both speak perfect English for non-German speaking guests. Praise must also be given to their team of staff and in particular Simon who prepares divine breakfasts. The accommodation is first class and I was lucky enough to stay in both the Hippo room and recently built tent. Luxurious and homely are words that spring to mind but no words can do justice to the superb quality of the accommodation. The views from the large and well kept garden are absolutely breathtaking of Table Mountain and the swimming pool and terrace are an added bonus. Hout Bay is a superb place to stay and is perfectly situated and within easy reach of Cape Town, The Winelands and Chapmans Peak. All in all we have no hesitation in highly recommending Thulani River Lodge where you are guaranteed to have an amazing and memorable time.
