I can't brag enough about my holiday retreat to this heritage hotel. It was above and beyond my expectations. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were somewhere really special. I’d particularly like to thank Yannis & Kelvin from the front desk for their excellent hospitality and service. Sia from Ferment Wineknowledge, who provide superb service and have fantastic wine knowledge with a genuine passion for her work. Kudos to the whole team, thanks for the wonderful stay

At The Apollo Inn, we provide you with the best of both worlds - a hushed interior, with pleasant privacy and quality comforts at the heart of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE rich filled with warmth, relaxation and diverse cultural heritage.
Stayed here couple of times already. It's a great place to stay in Penang. Many restaurants nearby, and the property is clean and most of all, very affordable. Great customer service too as some other affordable properties couldn't accomodate midnight check in time.

Carnarvon House is a boutique guest house ideally located in Georgetown surrounded by heritage spots and famous local hawker food.
I stayed in the new wing of Carnarvon house, in a double bed room with a private bathroom. The room was spacious and bright, and everything was very clean. The owners of the house were extremely friendly and breakfast was always delicious! The house has an awesome location, very close to Armenian Street which makes walking around very easy. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

The local TV channels and water flask is provided but the hot and cold water filter is outside the room down the hall. The AC is cold. Shower is hot & cold. Towel and body soap is provided. Parking is around the hotel area for the guest. Park at your own risk.

Magpie Heritage - Hideaway is a stylish George Town city-centre boutique residence. Tucked along the busy Beach Street (Lebuh Pantai) in the heart of George Town, it is a surprisingly quiet hideaway offering luxury and comfort with unparalleled room amenities. It is perfectly located for short walks to most of George Town main sights, restaurants and quirky café’s. The discreet shophouses façade hides literally a handful of rooms (5 total) which are available in five colours, all meticulously designed and planned around two internal courtyards.
Literally a hideaway, Magpje Heritage’s front is one of the old shops in Georgetown. Location-wise it is strategic for tourists who’d like to visit the attractions in the heritage zone. For locals like us who drove, there’s public parking in front of the shophouse. Parking tickets are required on office hours for weekdays and first half of Saturday. Entering the place feels like you’ve been brought to a refurbished heritage place with a blend of the modern taste. There’s an upper floor and the ground level rooms. Due to the wooden floors, don’t expect sound proof because these were retained heritage features. Our room was spacious, decorated with pictures of the 1950s and comes with a little backyard corner. The flooring is slightly uneven, shown in the last photo. Our fridge, opened, saw leftover spoiled milk shakes spill out, and we immediately called the front desk. He’d gone out for dinner and hasn’t eaten at 9pm but he still came back to attend to us immediately. Good service!

The budget hotel boom has it's ugly side. Most will say able to accept less service. Always comparing to price paid. RM 85 is not cheap for a small room. Ie. Common water dispenser, dispenser soap & shampoo, no breakfast, no bellman. Pro Location near food. Right smack in CBD. Walking distance to attractions. Transport convenient. WiFi signal good. Key card, double lock & peep hole. Good comm by staff (reservation). Clean pillow, bolster, towel, bath mat & duvet. Cons Windows locked (a gap would suffice). Feeling nausea with stuffy room. Noisy neighborhood. Limited parking bay. Bathroom small (adequate). Parquet floors cracked & bulging. Flimsy electrical wire (water heater). Writing table broken (legs). Non smoking rooms. No coffee / tea making amenities. No soap bar (even small round ones). No staff to assist with luggage (permanent)

Blending quirky twists of unique culture and boutique luxury, we offer opulent open spaces to relax and share good times with friends, while our extraordinary roof bar and a pool are the perfect place to host truly unforgettable events.
Another great trip to Penang made all the more amazing by the hospitality of Atawan, Priya and the team at Tien. As far as boutique hotels go, there’s no other hotel that offer these cool vibes at such good value. Special mention for the in-shower bluetooth speaker, huge outdoor 24 hour terraces and free flow coffee. Simply amazing.

They have relatively cheap rooms with full amenities toilet bath ensuite at cheaper price. Parking wise is okay, but a bit hard to get in, get out and may run out of space. Especially if the neighbouring food stalls, the steamboat across and the famous siam Road char kueh teow next door has alot of guest. I went out at dinner but only able to get back and park after midnight. Easy access as the lift does goes to the car park at ground floor. Check in desk is at 1st floor.
