Hailed by Rudyard Kipling as "the eighth wonder of the world," the breathtaking Milford Sound is the star of glacier-carved Fiordland National Park, providing an emerald-green and waterfall-rich backdrop for hiking, biking and kayaking. Frequent downpours only enhance this South Island beauty, sending numerous waterfalls cascading down the cliffs. Passionate nature lovers book in advance to hike the 33-mile Milford Track, a legendary route through alpine passes and temperate rainforest.

9 Room bed & breakfast with a reputation for offering guests the personal touch to ensure there stay is one to remember.
Was only there for one night but without too many tourists around we had a very peaceful rest. We chose the Kiwi breakfast as an extra and it was delicious. It was nice to chat with the hosts, Liz and Nathan who were able to give help with a question from our travels (which you have to guess) . The answer is Manapouri sewerage plan.

Excellent base of operations in Te Anau. High quality comfortable room, with all you’d need for breakfast. Rebeccas is friendly and accommodating. Well located with an easy walk to the shops and lakefront. The spa pool looked tempting but we didn’t get that far.

Experience the genuine warmth of traditional hospitality in the relaxed and tranquil environment of our 1936 relocated former convent, in one of New Zealand's most scenic locations- stunning Fiordland. We proudly promote our 9 rooms as being a mix of historic charm, combined with modern convenience, luxury and comfort. Based on 7 acres, yet only 15 minutes walking time to Te Anau town centre you`ll enjoy our secluded location, and appreciate all activities in town with ease. Take time to enjoy the little additions we`ve provided to make your stay memorable. Enjoy a game of giant garden chess, listen to the water fountain in our pond while reading a book on our 2 person swing seat, soak up the sunshine in our private gazebo, curl up next to the fireplace in the Lounge Library, and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony overlooking the estate.Above all else you`ll find the level of interaction with your host, and the friendly staff, one of the most memorable aspects of staying in a Lodge this size.A unique accommodation experience.
5 stars on the proviso that this is accomodation with personality! You will not find anything corporate and anonymous - you will find some of the most interesting and amusing places to stay. We stayed in the train carriage for the first 2 nights and in the vestry for the last night. The train was the best as the convent had thin walls but both were very cool and quirky places to stay. You can pretend you’re taking a steam train journey or that you are a nun. What more could you want??!

We stayed two nights at High Leys. The home is beautiful with stunning views to the lake. The room was lovely, with a luxurious ensuite. The hosts were very friendly. And the breakfasts were fantastic. A menu to pick from, which was such a treat. There was also home baking which was very nice. It's an easy walk down to the lake. And only a few minutes from town. Lots of car parking. Everything you need for a luxury stay in Te Anau.

Me and my wife just checked out today from this lovely lodge after spending two nights as part of our honeymoon in New Zealand. The lodge is situated in the midst of breathtaking landscapes and it is 5 minute drive from the town centre. The interiors of the lodge are very elegant and well maintained. Joan and Ross, the hosts, were very welcoming warm and friendly. We enjoyed bonding with them every morning over a delicious breakfast that was made by Joan before heading out to explore Te Anau. Joan was also very helpful in reccomending different places me and my wife could dine in. She was also kind enough to make sure our room was always neat before we arrive from each outing. And the treats left in our room were a thoughtful touch from them! We can't wait to come back and stay in the Prospect Lodge again!

Nice and cozy B&B with breakfast provided. It is a little further from the shops that the other places but Te Anau is so small that it doesn't really make that much of a difference. Continental breakfast included but was a bit confused about how the hot breakfast worked.

We had a great room, with a lovely view - sparkling clean, well maintained, and well equipped. The staff are extremely friendly and kindly stored our luggage when we went on an overnight boat trip. The park is quiet, and a nice place to appreciate the lake and mountains.
