About 10 miles north of Nuremberg, Erlangen is the home of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Friedrich-Alexander-University), founded in 1742. Just over 100,000 people live here, about a third of whom are involved with the university; about another third work for the Siemens corporation. Bergkirchweih, Erlangen’s annual festival - akin to Munich’s Oktoberfest - opens in a different beer cellar every year and is attended by over a million people in its twelve-day run around Pentecost.

I have stayed several times at Hotel Stadthaus, and it was always perfect. Very friendly staff, fully equipped rooms with nice bathroom. Good breakfast. The hotel is situated in the center of Erlangen near Erlangen Arcaden and the main shopping street.

Spent three nights in last 4 years. Good parking in front. Hotel kitchen, higher standard rooms, perfect services. Good choice for exibitions. We use it for IWA. Hotel is near Norinberg so it was perfect choice. We had a room for two (DB), with good beds and clean bathroom every day! Hotel restaurant is perfect. Respect for customers wishes. Kitchen is every time delicius and service friendly.

Without any booking we went into the restaurant. After a friendly welcome the staff found a good place to enjoy some traditional food and local beer. I can recommend the Schaufele, a big bone with enough meat. Please ask for the sweet Flammkuchen.

You feel as if you were at home For our guests, it’s like home away from home. Our inn is the ideal place for a business trip or a holiday. We combine the comfort and convenience of a top, modern hotel with the family atmosphere of a traditional inn. Our regulars enjoy feeling at home with the Güthleins, relaxing with their business friends over a beer in the snug and seeing familiar faces. Our boss will greet you personally for breakfast from 6 a.m. with her query: “A nice strong coffee this morning?”, with an ample buffet featuring sausage-meat specialities from our own butcher’s shop.
I was at this Gasthof end of may on a business travel. bathroom is awful, it's a plastic box and when you have a shower the curtains lays on your body... no hygienical and very very terrible. Wi-fi was not running properly neither in the restaurant nor in the rooms, you waste a lot of time waiting for connection...... Menu is repeating every day the same and overall meat. Hotel is not chip, some other guys spent that period in the city centre of Nuremberg paying the same sum. The landlady is quite unpolite... I don't think I will be back in this hotel any more.......

Breakfast Buffet. 7 non-smoking rooms. 3 bathrooms. Balcony Garden Near to the city Near to the bus stop
I haven't actually stayed over in what I'd call the "main building", as there seem to be at least one extra appartment that is used to accomodate guests. It's quite far, so you have to drive back in the morning for breakfast. The appartment actually has only 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, but is presented as 2 bedroom - open living room serves as the second. The appartment is in dire need of reconstruction, wifi is really poor, matraces old and too soft - all in all, avoid if you can.

The non-smoking hotel since foundation is located near the centre in a quite landscape and is ideal for business guests. The familiar Gaste- and Boardinghaus Klara Birnbaum is near the center easy to reach and is located in a very quiet protected landscape at the Regnitzwiesen (Regnitz meadows), which is very comfortable for business guests. With the bus stations otherwise by walking you can reach the center in a few minutes. Furthermore, the bus stations have as well a good connection to other cities like Nuremberg and Fuerth. With our motto "living like home" you can stay in a hotel without hotel atmosphere. With the equipment you have the possibility to stay longer in the Gaste- and Boardinghaus Klara Birnbaum. The rooms are equipped with TV- flatscreen, a WLAN connection, a comfortable desk, a telephone, a bathroom with shower and toilet, hair dryer and fridge or a small full equipped kitchen.
Great guest house with a nice breakfast provided in the morning. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The man does speak some English, but definitely a plus if you can speak German (even just a little bit). The location is in a quiet neighborhood and a long walk (30-40 min) from the city center, but you can take the 281 Bus to Bayernstr which is a short walk away, or the 289 bus to Pommernstr. (check times carefully, the bus doesn't always stop here) to right across the street. It was very clean well-kept. The only negative was no internet service. If they had free internet, I would return without question, but as it is, next time I would probably look for a place with internet first.

Hotel in quite neighbourhood, friendly family Glass and large autentic rooms. Free bike rent makes the hotel close to city centre and restaurants. Nice European breakfast. The hotel has free Wlan, but its working a bit slow. The really good beds and charming rooms makes Villa Glas a nice place to stay.

I rarely go to one star, but this time it is necessary and well deserved. A friend had the misfortune to stay at Mirabell. Although it is a very ugly hotel and the single room is extremely small, we were pleasantly surprised the bathroom was neat and clean. There is nothing comfy in the room, not even a water bailer to make tea. The bed was so bad, my friend needed a chiropractor after a few weeks. The manager was rude all the time. Cleaning was paid for and not provided regularly. At the end, the manager started inventing reasons to keep the deposit, claims fraudulent enough for the police to get involved. My advice is to avoid.
