Another very nice option is to book a horse-drawn carriage, the best way to enjoy this beautiful environement.
The hotel stands in the middle of the walking valley, and on New Year's day there was no shuttle service. I could not walk 3 km in freezing temperatures and was forced to drive my car into the no access road. The manager the next day let me found a 100 Fr fine on my car. Never ever book this place. Pretty inconvenient and awful management.

The Conrad’s Mountain Lodge is the ideal starting point for your alpine adventure in the Engadine. Modern architecture with wooden and stone elements characterise the new look and feel. The interior done in a cosy Lodge-style connects natural elements with warm colours and modern charm – perfect to relax and feel comfortable. Surrounded by the breath-taking nature, you are going to look forward to your next outdoor-adventure that awaits you directly in front of the door. During your stay in the summer season a first-class Hardtail Bike is at your disposal and in winter you can select from Alpine Skis (4 stars), cross country skis or a snowboard from our partner Skiservice Corvatsch. The selected sports equipment is included in the room rate. For a small additional charge further models of our equipment can be used.
Overall, I'm glad I went to the trip advisor forum for hotel location recommendations, I felt this is the best hotel among the three I've stayed in the Maloja District for this 9-days trip: Silvaplana > Celerina > St. Moritz. Arriving from St. Moritz: Simply take the public bus near the train station and alight at Silvaplana Kreisel Mittel. Walking to the hotel is a short 5min walk on a slight slope. A good location to go anywhere in Silvaplana. Service: Received a very warm welcome during check-in and introduction to the hotel amenities and various locations around Silvaplana, with personal recommendation on what tickets are applicable for me (transport, ski, engadin card etc). Very friendly staff I've encountered throughout my stay here. The hospitality is something you won't get from what you get from larger hotels. Active Plus Room: Simply awesome with a great view of the surroundings and mountains from the bedroom and balcony. Well equipped kitchenette, living area, bathtub in shower room and walk in closet. Radiator heater is easy to use. Food: Breakfast has a good spread of hot food (eggs to your liking) and cold platter (cheese, hams, muesli, smoked salmon etc.) Exploration Tips: Corvatsch, Val Fex, Lake Silvaplana, Lake Sils, various hiking trails. Transport Tips: Google Maps isn't very accurate in terms of the timing of public bus transport timings, so be sure to look at the bus timetables at the bus stop.

Historic hotel experience Built in 1927, the historic Engadin art nouveau villa is an insider’s tip for individualists looking for a special hotel experience. Spacious common rooms in the original sense of the word, featuring a library, lounge and dining room, are provided for guests’ use. The entire hotel is dominated by individual, characteristic furniture and antiques. Each of the 17 rooms is unique, with none resembling the others. No televisions or telephones are provided in the guest rooms, ensuring that there is nothing to distract our guests from relaxing and enjoying the extensive views. As easy as staying with friends, but as comfortable as a hotel. As hosts, we adopt this guiding principle in providing the usual hotel services. However, now and then we treat you as friends would and invite you, for example, to help yourself from the refrigerator. This was how the house was run when Chesa Spuondas was still a private house.
Building and surrounding was nice, although a bit isolated. Price was outrageous for the status of the room. Very old furniture which was not particularly well maintained. First day, nobody came to clean the room. Breakfast, with extra payments for eggs when the room was up to 300chf. Bathroom in the corridor. People are nice, specially in the breakfast. No tv, no coffee maker, little bit of extras you can buy for a fee downstairs. Very poor value.

1 bus (10 minutes from St Moritz Station) then a 2 minute walk to get to. Decent location. Lin, the lady owner is a lovely, warm person. You feel relaxed seeing her. Super comfy bed (the best I stayed in on my trip) and a great breakfast. I would recommend this place.

We stayed for a night in this hotel. The price is high compare to other countries but it was the affordable one in St Moritz. At first, I've read the reviews and not sure if it's ok or not. But I think it's good and better than I thought! The location is in quite area near the lake, not too far from the station. Only10minutes on bus from train station(bus No3). And the bus stop is just in front of the Hotel Sonne (which you have to check in from this hotel before going in to your room in Casa Franco but it's only200meters away in the next building nearby.) The room is clean and warm. The beds are comfortable with down pillow and warm down blanket. Even though it is shared bathroom but there were 2-3bathrooms per about5-6rooms. On the night we stayed, there was no other people so we have 3 bathrooms! The bathroom were very clean. The towels are also clean. The price is include buffet breakfast which is really good. ( you have to go to Hotel Sonne,200meters away from Casa Franco Hotel) There are many kinds of breads, cheese, ham, cereals and seeds, jam, yoghurts, good cheesecakes, eggs. (We like it!) Only one thing that I don't like about this hotel that there is NO elevator! PS. Hotel Restaurant (Hotel Sonne Restaurant)is very good with affordable/reasonable price. We had dinner here. (Other restaurants in the city is very very expensive) Freshly made pizza and pasta is very very good! Try it!

We had been recommened this place, and were not disappointet. The dinner was amazing, including thetraditional käsefondue. We had good recommendations on wine, and local live music as the sprinkle on top.

This modern hotel and restaurant doesn’t need fancy. Our room was stylish, clean, modern and spacious. Their restaurant (chef and kitchen team) is exceptionally good - out of four nights we had dinner three times there. The lounge across the main road offers a splendid mountain view. The staff is most welcoming, friendly and also the main reason why we will go back there. The hotel is thought through down to the details, cares for the environment and made everything to make our stay happy. We will definitely come back - thank you!

We are a family of 5 with teenagers/uni student “children” staying in 2 rooms. Both rooms were a really good size, clean and modern. Our 4th floor room had a great view looking towards the valley and the piste down. The location is great for skiiing - pretty much ski in and out, and 1 min ski down to main gondola. On the edge of town, but only 6 mins walk to restaurants in St Mauritz Bad and a really good Coop “upmarket” supermarket. We hadn’t realised that we’d have a kitchen in our room - we paid a small supplement to “unlock” access to the kitchen and saved a lot of money by cooking on several nights which suited us really well. Breakfast was great. What really made this hotel for us were the staff - Simone on reception is everywhere all the time, serving breakfast, drinks in the bar, really helpful with advice and friendly . The owner/Manager (not sure which) was really friendly and helpful, checking in with his guests at breakfast - my husband had an injury and they were super helpful and kind. The basement pool was great - about 15 metres long, warm and clean plus great modern saunas and steam room open until 8pm. We really rated this place - particularly the friendly atmosphere, roomy rooms and the flexibility that the kitchenette gave us. Modern but unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere - and good value for St Mauritz.
