The hotel is located in a tiny romantic village surrounded by hills and vineyards. Even though close to the highway, it is surprisingly quiet all day. We took "half-pension" so we were treated with a large breakfast buffet in the morning and a five-course gourmet dinner in the evening. You feel that the family running this hotel is concerned about the well-being of the guests: attention to details, questions on how to help and make your stay as nice as possible. We went there during the ski season but I would like to come back in autumn - and hiking the beutiful Dolomite mountains as well as discovering the charming vineries around.

Relax in your room that is furnished with good taste in Tyrolean style and savour the South Tyrolean and Mediterranean dishes prepared expressly for you. We also offer you a newly renovated wellness area and a small outdoor pool. Whether you arrive on your own or as a couple, or with children, as a group of motor bikers or of holiday companions, our hotel is the ideal starting point for one-day tours and excursions throughout South Tyrol, all year round. Stay for a short or a long term in the medieval town of Chiusa, also known as ‘Dürer’s town’, in the heart of Valle Isarco. Admire attractions such as the Sabiona Monastery and allow your imagination to take you back in time as you walk through the many romantic alleys of the town.
The hotel is quite near to the Adolf Munkel trailhead hence my stay here. It has good a lovely view of the mountains and Säben Abbey, an abbey built in the 17th century. Very clean room with a nice balcony overlooking the rooftop garden. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Huge selection available at the breakfast buffet. Even someone like me with a strict Muslim diet found plenty of food to enjoy - they had many types of breads and jams, yogurts, cut fruits and cereals.

Room was comfortable and big. Breakfasts were really good, with delicious strawberries, nice selection of local delicacies. The waiter at the breakfast was very attentive and spoke english with no problems. Checkout was fast. When we arrived, the directions to reception were not clearly visible. The first corridor leads to rooms. You have to walk many stairs down and look for the desk. Unfortunately, there was no one there. We had to go and check for somebody in the kitchen! The lady did not , just told us to wait. We stood there for couple of minutes, until she turned to us. She even did not speak english at all, so the whole procedure was quite complicated. We made a reservation for our first evening to their restaurant. But same story continued. Even though we had reservation and arrived precisely at given time, they did not have table ready and we had to wait before they cleaned it. Moreover, there was nobody to lead us to our table. We had to again look for someone to ask. They just pointed in the direction, where table was located and let us guess, which one is it (we got it wrong and have to change seats once). Waiter was not welcoming at all. When he realized, that we do not speak English, he simply passed us our menu cards and went to make jokes with more interesting German guests. This does not feel professional. I never experienced, that meals for two guests were not brought to us at once. My wife had almost finished her risotto, when I finally got my pizza. Crust was good, but there was really not enough ingredients and the middle was swimming in water from mushrooms. Risotto was bland and far from what you expect in Italy. The bowl with parmesan with the risotto was nice, but after we finished, the waiter simply moved it to another table, without even checking, if there is enough inside. And I am not talking about the spoon, that was there for the whole time. We did not return the second night. Checkout was better. There was someone sitting at the desk. But even though it was another lady, when we checked out, english was again a no-go. And the parking is crazy, located in a steep slope. We did not fit the second night and had to park in the payed spot in the city.

When we arrived at Parkhotel Post, at best the staff could be described as disinterested, at worst you could say downright rude. Unhelpful is an understatement. A request for extra pillows (needed for medical reasons) wasn’t well received, and it took two more requests before a staff member very reluctantly took some from the room next to ours. When we woke up in the morning there was no hot water and no staff within the entire hotel to assist. We finally got hot water about an hour after getting up. Then conversely, breakfast was great and the lady serving food and coffee was cheerful and friendly, as was the man on the front desk. Our room facing the town square was adequate, but no more than that. We are not high-maintenance travellers, and will put up with less than 100% because we know that things don’t always go right, but I wouldn’t return to the Parkhotel Post. I’m fairly certain there are better options in the town.
