Sunny Cancun has much more to offer than its party-town reputation might suggest. Plenty of gorgeous, drama-free family resorts cater to folks who want to experience the tropical Yucatan climate. There are significant Mayan ruins here, such as El Rey and the Yamil Lu’um, a crumbling tower of pale gray stone. Learn more about this ancient civilization at the Museo Maya de Cancun. For a literal taste of Mexico, take a tour of the Museo Sensorial del Tequila.

I stayed at Suites Sina for a birthday trip with my husband. We didn’t want to stay at an all inclusive, and this place had great reviews. The pics and videos really don’t show how beautiful the views are. The suite was big and clean. It was like an apartment with a full refrigerator and microwave there was no stove but we didn’t have a need for one. It had a couch and a dining room table, breakfast bar and plenty of closet space. The bathroom was clean and the shower was huge. My husband is a smoker that was one reason I picked this hotel, they do allow smoking on the balcony and patio areas and the view of the pool and marina is serene and beautiful. The view at night is even more beautiful you can see all the lights from the hotel zone even the Ferris wheel. The restaurant on site was delicious and affordable and the service was quick and the drinks were great. The hotel itself is only two stories high, it is very quiet and located on a quiet street. The walk to the main drag is not bad only about 10 minutes or so. The bus stop is close And so is the taxi hub. There are plenty of restaurants, gas stations, and money exchange spots on the way to the the hotel zone and nearest beach on foot and it’s is only a 20 to 30 minute walk. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The housekeepers we had were awesome, the room was cleaned thoroughly everyday. I enjoyed my time here at this hotel. Would highly recommend if looking for something quiet and affordable.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa du Golf. The room was comfortable and spacious. The pool area is beautiful. The breakfast is delicious. Most of all, the staff are really wonderful and kind. There are no refrigerators in the rooms, but they were more than happy to store a bottle of wine in the kitchen for us. They even insisted on giving us real wine glasses when we opened our bottle. An added bonus for me was that there are cats in the courtyard! It can be hard to find a good location restaurant within walking distance. But that is because of the inclusive hotels along the main strip. But the hotel will arrange a taxi for you to the more populated areas. But, the beautiful hotel is beyond expectations for a reall Cancun stay. We would highly recommend staying here.

I booked this hotel room on Hot Wire. I recognized the hotel picture from a previous search on a different site. I believe the other site had it listed for $96/night, but on Hot Wire I paid $65/night, for 5 nights. In addition to the hotel cost I paid $15 in taxes. I was super excited about the deal I got. Well, was I surprised when I got there. The amenities list on Hot Wire included Wi-Fi, but the room was not equipped with Wi-Fi. However, there was Wi-Fi in the common areas i.e., the pool area and an area they call El Jardin (the garden). Hot Wire never said the room includes Wi-Fi, but it would have been nice to know upfront. I believe it was neglectful on their part. I needed to be connected for work on a couple of days. If I would have known I wasn't getting access to Wi-Fi in my room I would have not booked a room elsewhere. Luckily for me Dolores, who appeared to be the reservations/reception manager put me in a room that would most likely get a Wi-Fi signal, and it did. I was placed in room 3104 and was able to connect to the pool area Wi-Fi from my room, most of the time. Thank goodness for Dolores. When I read the reviews on Tripadvisor I called in advance to voice my concerns about the Wi-Fi. (Thanks to all of you who mentioned that in your reviews.) It was imperative that I have a Wi-Fi connection. She said she would take care of it and she did. Thanks Dolores and Crew. Dolores and her team were kind, professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I did have a problem with the AC - it was too noisy. Also, there was a leak coming from one of the light fixtures in the bathroom (pics). I called the reception desk and they came in a matter of minutes. Honestly, it was less than 5 minutes for both instances. The customer service was phenomenal. Unfortunately, the rooms were not. My room was a standard room. I got what I paid for. It had everything I needed; clean room, fridge, AC, clean towels and linens every day, great pool and beach view and a great attentive staff. My only disappointment was the Wi-Fi, oh and did I mention I had no TV. Now, I don't go on vacation to watch TV, but on this particular trip it would have been nice to have the option, due to all the rain. It rained practically everyday thanks to hurricane Agatha. TV was another amenity Hot Wire had listed. NOT TRUE.. And it wasn't due to the weather. You see, I met a lovely couple at the Hotel and they had great internet and TV connection. Their room was equipped with a working TV and a modem/router, which both worked so that got me thinking, 'WTF is going on?' I thought about the reviews I read on Tripadvisor and Google and I couldn't understand why they were at both ends of the spectrum and I started to ask around and found out why. The building itself is composed of 4 other "administrations" as per the staff. Some rooms have been upgraded and modernized while others have been left in their original state with a few minor upgrades, I stayed in one of the latter. The 4 Cancun Plaza "administrations" or other hotel names are as follows: Cancun Plaza Hotel BSEA Cancun Plaza Hotel Best Beach Cancun Plaza Hotel Sea View or Ocean View Cancun Plaza Hotel Now, don't quote me on the exact names, but If I remember correctly those are about right. Those of you who said the rooms were nightmares are right. Those of you who said they were excellent l are right Those of you who said they had no Wi-Fi are right Those of you who said they had Wi-Fi are right ...and on and on and on... So, before making any reservations at any of these hotels through a third party, like Hot Wire make sure you're getting what's listed on their site. As for me, I am giving BSEA... a 3 star because the room just doesn't deserve a 5. It has nothing to do with the staff, they were amazing. The grounds were kept clean at all times. I also want to add, check rates on Airbnb. I checked on Airbnb while I was there when I got frustrated cuz I couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi and happened to find a room just like mine at the same location/hotel for only $46/night with a service fee of $13 and no cleaning fee. The low prices may have been due to hurricane Agatha or maybe not. I hope my review helps make sense of the sporadic reviews for this particular location and helps you to be a more savvy shopper than I was.

A very unpleasant experience. The area around the hotel is horrible (local people and taxi drivers told me not to go outside at night). Room with bugs and very noisy. No elevators included so had to take my bags to the 3rd floor. Lastly, the manager charged me extra at arrival despite having paid in full, and didn’t let me enter to the hotel until I had given him the extra money.

very clean, staff were very helpful booking taxis etc, lovely powerful and warm showers, large rooms, nice pool and grounds and well as a free to use games room for entertainment. Food menu was limited but everything we had was delicious. wifi doesn’t reach the room so we had to sit in communal areas for wifi. location was very close to the airport but nothing near to buy water or snacks etc, 30 minute walk into the local town for street vendors and small corner shops.

We have travelled many Places around the world, but I don’t remember feeling like a member of the family after only two nights. Martha and David are such warm and caring hosts who go above and beyond when looking after their guests. Martha has a wealth of knowledge in all things Mexican, especially the Yucatán. David is just a genuinely all around good guy and a fellow Canadian. This was a great start to our three week travels in the Yucatán.

The hotel is in a good location downtown of Cancun (not the hotel zone), the room is big and roomy but dirty, even bugs running in the room. We had to wait 15-20 minutes for hot water. The staff were really nice but the rest is just not worth it.

My airlines screwed up my flight going home. So I had to take a taxi to this place which is not really in a commercial district area. Instead, it is in a typical blue-collar area and not much shopping or stores around, which was fine with me. Alfredo the manager there was very nice and directed me on how to go and get some food down the street, which I did. Then I enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in the beautiful pool. The next morning he was able to get me a taxi at 6 am and I got home to the States safely. Very nice place indeed!

This property had bugs all over it. In the room there were termites crawling from the walls on the bed the sheets were disgusting and it was very uncomfortable I booked my reservation for three nights and chose to leave after the first night. The manager of the hotel was DISGUSTINGLY RUDE AND KEPT INSINUATING THAT BECAUSE I PAID THE PRICE FOR THE ROOM I SHOULD JUST DEAL WITH IT. Absolutely disrespectful they upgraded my room 3 times in one day and even though the room got better in size it also increased in bugs. We couldn’t even keep our bags on the counters we had to leave them in the middle of the room. Absolutely disgusting. Not only do they not try to give you a refund but the sheets were dirty and the towels felt like your rubbing your skin with 30 year old carpet or a sander. I highly recommend you do not stay here. It’s NASTY. The manager is NASTY AND IT WAS ONE OF THE WORST HOTEL STAYS OF MY LIfe. The manager didn’t even care that the hotel had termites he just kept blaming me and trying to get me to still pay for the room because he was more concerned about paying a commission to Booking.com. And after I told him how uncomfortable I was he tried to force me to stay. Saying I’ll deal with it In the morning l. Now I don’t know about you but why am I going to stay somewhere where I am clearly uncomfortable. ABSOLUTELY SICKENING.
