The accommodation is clean and modern with great amenities. It's perfect for family breakaways since there is a great playground and loads of places to explore which kept our little one busy all day. Food is delicious and the patio with the great view makes relaxing effortless.

The Drakenberg Mountain Retreat is a stunning destination in the northern Drakensberg with breathtaking views. Accommodation at the Lodge is fully catered for breakfast and Dinner. Lunch can be ordered and can be enjoyed on the patio or a picnic basket for your walk in the mountains. The rooms range in quality and size so chat to the management if you want something specific. There are 2 luxurious rooms for romantic couples wanting a totally private retreat. Our pet friendly rooms have enclosed gardens and our large family rooms are wonderful for relaxing with the kids. There are no fixed entertainment activities for the kids. There are marked hiking trails for the fit and not so fit. Enjoy the streams, rivers and just be captured by the quiet of nature. Bring some board games for kids and some of their books from home. Useful on rainy days. The Lodge is set high on a ridge overlooking the northern Drakensberg, the Maluti mountains and most of the central Drakensberg. A wonderful base from which to experience what this part of the Drakensberg has in store for you. The BARNHOUSE is our Self Catering option on the same premises. It offers accommodation for groups and conferences. Enjoy the "homely" atmosphere and caring hosts.
An absolutely spectacular venue with 7 star hospitality. Theo, Zizi and Staff are truly wonderful folk. Accomodation is authentic and honours the environment perfectly. Meals exceed expectations. THANK YOU so much to all. See you again soon!

We have 9 fully equipped self-catering units, breathtaking views of the Drakensberg Mountains and Sterkfontein Dam, and surrounded by nature. Comfortable rooms, all have their own braai areas and DSTV. Free wifi, units are serviced daily.
We loved our stay at Windmill Farm, the view was stunning and the units were well serviced and very comfortable. Very Close to Royal Natal and other sight seeing points. But we stayed the one day just at Windmill Farm took a nice walk and sit at the fire enjoying the view

We were advised that Bergville is the ideal place to stay while visiting the Central Drakensberg. This, we realised, was absolutely true! To compliment our stay we arranged accommodation at Erin Cottage where we were met by Jackie and her husband Louis who made us very welcome. Three of us occupied the main cottage while our friends were hosted in Sunbird room. The establishment is situated just outside Bergville and has a rustic surround that makes one feel that they are out in the countryside. The place is well run, clean and tastefully decorated. Bergville is close to both north and central Drakensberg and day trips to either region are close at hand. The "farm" offers really affordable accommodation with a great breakfast included. I fully recommend a stay here!

Very good location in a tranquil setting with comfortable accommodation with great views and warm enough during cold nights. Disappointing and inviting (empty) bar with no choice ONE only vodka and a dated restaurant with the most unimaginative no choice poor quality wine by the glass red, white or rose take it or leave it and that in South Africa. Staff obviously lacks motivation and training on basic courtesies which should include a smile or two........With dinner included there is no a la carte option so the choices are very limited in each F&B aspect.....

There is a lot good to be said of our stay, the rondavel huts were charming and while a bit outdated, well-maintained. The rooms were clean and equipped with air conditioning and a television. Our friend's hut did not have hot water and the free wifi does not extend to the rooms, it's only available in the main dining area. The main dining / bar area is delightful and we enjoyed a great meal there on our one night stay. On the negative side, our stay was a bit uneven in that they allowed us to book a room on a day they were "technically closed" (they're only open 3 days a week which we did not realize) but didn't fully inform us at the time of the booking. When we arrived, they advised that while we could sleep there, the restaurant, bar, etc. were all closed (and there is nothing else nearby for kilometers). Our small group pleaded and the host (assuming it was the owner as he lived on the property) advised he'd open for us, put some beer and wine on ice and offer us 3 selections for dinner. Another person told us we'd be served dinner at 4pm and we'd have to eat in our rooms because they were closed and we couldn't dine in the restaurant area, when we balked at that, the owner appeared and said..."no, no, no...stay here in the restaurant area as long as you like". So in the end we had a good result, but the overall experience was a bit uneven. Best to book and stay on a day that they are fully / officially open and I'm sure you'll have a great experience.

We arrived to play a game of golf on a Tuesday. Quoted over R1000 for 3 of us to play 9 holes with 2 carts. Not another player on the course and when we enquired if any better rate for 9 holes we were told as non-residents, that was the rate. We left as we felt the cost was not justified for 9 holes, mid-week, winter and out of season.

Pizza made the old fashion way. Wood fire and fresh ingredients. Refreshing smoothies and qwerky decor. A nice alternative to regular restaurants, with ample outdoor seating. Along the R74 Bergville route. It seems popular with weekend visitors, holidaymakers and local residents.
