Sparsely-populated beaches that give way to an ocean brimming with interesting marine life and coral gardens are just one of the reasons to visit the beautiful Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Ghandi Park, Sippighat Farm and the century-old Cellular Jail (now a pilgrimage destination) provide glimpses into the past and present of these peaceful islands with a mysterious and multicultural past.

BREATHE in the fresh sea air, let it invigorate and RELAX you. Take in the view of the green jungles and rice paddy fields from your private cottage. Revitalize yourself with simple and scrumptious island cuisine. Tucked away in the lush forests of Havelock Island, The Flying Elephant is situated in the small village of Kalapathar…away from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist area of the island. We offer you a haven to restore your connection to nature…the azure sea is only a short stroll away and waits for you to plunge into its warm tropical waters. White sands extend as far as the eye can see…walk for miles with only the hermit crabs and sea birds as your guides. The jungle anticipates your quiet footsteps…explore on your own or with a guide. Meander between the village houses and paddy fields taking in a taste of local island life. We invite you to experience a quieter world away from it all…slow down, rejuvenate and recharge!!!
Flying Elephant is far removed from the more populated and frequented parts of Havelock Islands. While that might not have been a problem if the property was self sufficient, the place fails spectacularly in ensuring quality hospitality for their guests. They have no restaurant, and the person at the front desk told us he would leave at 4 pm to handle his other property which was in the main part of the island. There is no other hotel, restaurant or shop for roughly 5 kilometers. The only saving grace is that Kala Patthar beach is roughly 500 m away. We reached Havelock around lunch time and got to Flying Elephant, where we were greeted by the absence of any food. We luckily had some biscuits which we gorged on, and set to Kala Patthar to eat some maggi and coconut water. There is no signal, and no autos that you can hail in this stretch and we ended up walking through 5 km of forest at dusk with bees and dogs as occasional unfriendly companions. We later found out that this stretch was avoided even by locals, and even complimentary restaurant pickups refrain from venturing so far in the back of the beyond. The night was spent in fear and agony. We have been in eco-frienfly resorts before, but none where the management was so poor. We were always afraid of something crawling on the bed from under the short mosquito net. The towels in the bathroom had almost a layer of insect carcasses stuck on them and were unusable. The bamboo mat wall of the shower area had a gaping hole near the floor. The next morning we had arranged for our conveyance to the ferry to reach at a certain time, and told the reception an hour in advance of the time we wanted to leave and what we wanted for breakfast from their menu, since the food was to be prepared off premises in some other space and carried here. Our auto had come and yet there was no sign of the food, the front desk man had nary a care and was more interesting in offering me a massage than expediting the breakfast. The breakfast was undercooked, and the cut fruits still had their stickers on them. Only after getting the delayed breakfast were we informed that our choice of food was time consuming (paratha and pancakes). While the property is beautiful, it is not maintained well at all, in favour of other more lucrative properties the chain has. Would strongly recommend choosing one of their properties closer to the main area, so one at least has options of food and conveyance nearby.

We offer clean, well furnished, comfortable, air-conditioned rooms designed to fit anyone's budget & taste.
Below average. The stay was for one night only, and we had checked out next morning. But the overall experience was below average. Few take aways where property manager seriously needs to work upon - * Useless breakfast. We were served with toasted slices of bread and small butter/jam packing. I don't know how others in their comments have called this as sumptuous feast ! Government guest house, Teal house, across the street sever poori allu at 60 per person - explore that as an option * No toiletries were there other than one small soap cake. Minimum expectation is to have two soaps and one shapoo. Thankfully we were carrying our stuff * No tea/coffee/sugar sachets, they apparantly had run out of stock... That's surprising to me * Rooms have no ventilation. These are some 12 feet by 10 feet rooms I guess which are closed from all sides with only one exit door and no wondow * Infested with mosquitoes. Yes, i understand Port Blair has abundant greenly , but atleast the internal area should have been kept bugs free! Few good things, * They did connect us 1 day in advance, and had send auto to pick us (paid service of course) * Bathrooms and rooms are very clean * Uninterrupted power supply * Jetty, airport, cellular jail ...all are within radius of 3 KM

A fantastic place to stay at Port Blair with a great service, great food and above all a perfect hostess, Mrs Punam, who is running the hotel. Guests fall in love with the place as she and her team delivers personalised service, be it in terms of helping in emergency room bookings, doing ferry ticket bookings and guiding how to enjoy your stay to the maximum. The room quality is good, toilets are clean and the sea view rooms have a good view of the sea. Absolutely recommended for stay at Port Blair.

The Shelter is not a hotel but a home, little home next to the sea not more than 12 feet. Long jumpers, be aware :) Just 10 minutes drive from airport. The famous Jail, Water Sports Complex are at walkable distance from us. One can enjoy the open balcony which looks over the North Bay Island, Ross Island and the mountains of Mount Harriet. Your Shelter too has a terrace which adds to your romance with nature. The Shelter is other side of the hill on which Cellular Jail is present. We take care of our guest with utmost respect and dignity. We also provide the services of Flower Bed Decoration, Honeymoon Cake and Candle Lit Dinner.
I booked it via MMT(when it comes to support, they are useless too) My flight to Port Blair got cancelled 14hrs prior to checkin time of this hotel. I requested refund via MMT by attaching proofs of flight cancellation msg. They again asked me the same and I shared via mail. Then they said that hotelier denied the refund. After calling Roy(The Shelter) for 15 days, finally he picked up and said there is policy that they don’t refund in any case (it was not mentioned on MMT) & shamelessly refused refund. It was condition out of anyones control. Just by saying it’s our policy, they are refusing refund. How can you even refuse refund when the it’s due to weather condition that too when flight is cancelled. Nothing more than CHOR. If you book here, God Bless Your hard earned money.

I had booked Deluxe room for one night(without breakfast). We were welcomed by very soft spoken Akram. Immediately after check-in in the evening, I found out an issue in the room which was immediately acknowledged and our room was upgraded to terrace room as gesture of compensation. Unfortunately, we noticed the same issue again in Terrace room and informed them the same. They again immediately acted upon it and fixed the issue till we came back from dinner. Also they promised me free breakfast as a gesture of compensation again from their side. I also got a call from the owner for an apology. I could actually see the worry on their faces for their guests. The reason that I haven't highlighted the issue details here- such issues can happen in any normal home and Kanchan's nest is also a homestay. It was just a bad day for us and them. I really appreciate how they acted upon it and how they treated us after they acknowledged the issue. I have no reason to deduct even a single star from my review. This place is neat and clean and best part is that its located in the street just opposite to airport entry. They have really simple, tasy and healthy breakfast. Wifi also works fine. Would definitely stay here again if I will plan my next trip to andamans.

The White Coral, a 3 star hotel in Port Blair, gives you view of sea lake created by tsunami, mountains and greenery. Just away from the city, a perfect place for relaxing after a whole tiring day. The White Coral has all the modern facilities, amenities and services. We offers 24 hours hot & cold showers, toilet kit, tea / coffee maker, etc. We welcome all guests.
Its private beach is the BEST part of this hotel. Its private hotel is even better & clean than Radhanagar beach. Very Good food, instant service, attractive rooms (ROYAL CLASS). They serve food with love. They fulfilled all my requirement of pure vegetarian food. Food is equally good for adults & child. Than you Hotel Manager & Chef. Complementary breakfast has good variety of options.

Pros: large property, peaceful, quiet, beautiful sea views, comfortably sized rooms, comfortable beds. Cons: its an hour out from the main city. There's nothing else around it, whether stores or restaurants, or auto stands. That's still somewhat manageable if you have a taxi or some means of transport for the day. But even if you're looking for a quiet getaway, it's not got enough facilities for a relaxing stay, either. The restaurant has good fare, but its a little shack of sorts with three tables squeezed in - barely even a restaurant. The place backs onto the sea, but its rocky and not the beach. The biggest drawback is the management, which does an awful job. Check in is supposedly at 11, but our rooms were not cleaned and available until 1.30. The loo was stained. They gave only a single one-person sized blanket and no sheets, for two people. The manager was weirdly insistent on us paying all dues at 10.30 in the night unlike any other place where you settle the final bill at check out. This, when we were leaving the next morning at 8 am anyway! We'd arranged a taxi on our own to the airport, which got into an accident and couldn't pick us up. The owner managed to squeeze us in with another family going into the city. He charged us double the normal fare for this, which is perfectly acceptable given the situation. But to be told that he was losing money on this transaction - I really don't see how this was possible as he'd overcharged - and how we'd made a mistake by not arranging taxis with him, how grateful we need to be to him, was irritating, annoying, and angering to say the least. If you have few or no options, then go for this place. Else, please skip it.
