Best known as the capital of Charlemagne's Frankish empire, today's Aachen sits at the juncture where Germany meets the Netherlands (the Dutch know it as Aken) and Belgium (where "Walloons" call it Aix-la-Chapelle). But Aachen's history goes back even further than 8th-century Charlemagne. Roman soldiers dating back to the 1st century AD cherished its hot springs (as did Charlemagne, who loved a good spa day just as much as the next guy). Aachen Cathedral, northern Europe's oldest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the city's main attraction.

The rooms at the Hotel Klenkes have modern laminate floors, a flatscreen TV and a private bathroom with shower. The double rooms and apartments feature large windows and a spacious layout. A rich breakfast buffet is served every morning in the traditional breakfast room. A range of bars, restaurants and cafés are within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Aachen is known for its historic architecture as the Aachener city hall built in 1330. The hotel Klenkes is 50 meters from one of the city parks, the Elise garden, away. Aachen Central Station is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Both the Dutch and the Belgian border are 10 minutes away by car, so that Aachen is the ideal starting point for all 3 Countries to explore.
I stayed here one night while passing through the area. It's a small hotel, right next to the main train station. I had a room on the front, facing the road. Due to the sound-proof glass, the noise from the passing traffic was very acceptable. Service is friendly and attentive. Prices quite modest for the room and service.

The best part about the hotel is the location. You can walk to all the tourist attractions, pubs, restaurants in the city center, but it's very reasonably priced. This is due to the fact that it is reception-free. I found this kind of nice, since I'm not big on talking to people anyway. First entry was confusing, since the key code instructions were incorrect, but we figured it out eventually. Rooms are small but comfortable. Walls are thin but I still think it's great for the price you pay.

Modernes und inhabergeführtes Stadthotel im Herzen von Aachen. City-Hotel im Zentrum.
I booked to stay for one night as we were visiting the Aachen Christmas market. I chose the hotel because of the location and proximity to the market. I was slightly wary after reading reviews of the hotel however, I had nothing to worry about. We got a taxi to the hotel because we had heavy luggage however you can walk to the hotel, it takes about 15-20 minutes. A taxi from Aachen HBF was only 8 euros. The hotel is quite disguised from the outside but we found it ok. We buzzed the door and we were let in. You have to walk up some stairs to get to reception but then there is a lift from reception to the rooms. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We went up to our room on the fourth floor. You do have to walk over an outdoor balcony to get to the rooms but it was fine. Our room was lovely and cosy. It was clean and tidy and we were very happy with it. The hotel is a two minute walk to the shops and the Christmas market. A great location! The breakfast was very yummy and there was lots of choice. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, it really made our stay special. I would highly recommend this hotel. We had a great nights sleep, a wonderful breakfast and a great stay!

Hôtel situé dans le centre ville, parking payant à côté. Chambre bien isolée. Point négatif : le petit déjeuner. 8,50 euros par personne pour ne rien avoir, une tranche de fromage, un petit pain et du jus de pomme tiède. Aucun fruit bref passez votre chemin !

This was comfortable for a one night stop. The place is motel-like - a block of two floors of 8 or 10 rooms. The location is not that central to the rest of Aachen and unfortunately is next to a busy road which you can certainly hear in the rooms. There does not seem to be much in the neighbourhood. You would need a car to get around I suppose (I was relying on lifts). The room was spacious and clean. A good breakfast was provided (the evening before to keep in the fridge) as I had paid for this extra. The wi-fi worked well. Overall, a decent stopover but nothing special and not really consistent with the very high rating on booking.com.

My friend in Germany booked this unique place for my stay for a night. In the night, it may little scary as this property is almost in a forest and no staff stays in the night. But at the same time, you may enjoy it's real calmness.

Stayed here for a night + breakfast, in October. Few other customers. Welcoming staff. The breakfast is really great: simple, but good. Special thanks for the fruits! No parking belonging to the hostel: you must find a place by yourself outside (the hostel is situated in a calm residential area). Wifi was good enough in the room, but the quality may also depend on the number of people present in the hostel. All places are clean, but the room smelt like it was ventilated for a while.

Me and my husband stayed in this hotel one night. The room service is amazing: they bringt pretty fast very tasty ordered pizza in the evening and in a few seconds a required iron in the morning! It seemed that the sheets were not so clean, but we cannot be sure in that. It just would be perfect if the sheets look like fresh. A breakfast was perfect: everything was on a table of buffet. Just the omelet wasn't so tasty. Concluded, good hotel to stay for one night
