La Concha Beach in San Sebastian, Spain is the best urban beach in Europe. Elegant, urban, cosmopolitan, white sand, crystal clear waters and lush hillsides makes La Concha the best urban beach in Europe and one of the most beautiful in the world. By the way San Sebastian is considered the most beautiful city in the world alongside Seville.

Cannot speak about the sunbathing/swimming experience but the walk on the promenade is just fabulous. We walked up to the harbor, enjoyed the views of the sea, looked at countless boats... There is a plethora of cafes and restaurants with outside seating along the Paseo de Bidasoa to sample some pintxos with a glass of Rioja.

This is a truly magnificent beach and not just for surfies of which there are many. It is dog friendly and our dog adores going in the water. It’s a long was down the 400+ steps from the campsite but totally worth it.

The geological formation here is world famous and will intrigue and fascinate even those not familiar with the geological significance. The stratified sedimentary beds are a flysch that arose in a foreland basin at the time of the tectonic convergence of Iberian and European plates that gave rise to the Pyrenees. Game of Thrones fans will recognize the setting as Dragonstone (I had to have this explained to me). The beach is broad and the sea water shallow for a considerable distance.
