Stunning 10 minute walk through native bush down to a sheltered bay with clear blue water. This beach is perfect for a family picnic and for those looking for a place to swim without waves. Having the choice of shade under the massive Pohutukawa trees or to bake in sun means it can cater to all people.

Very nice beach to swim at, very safe. Lifeguards were also on the beach every Sunday from Nov - Feb.

Every morning, all year round, surfers gather here around sunrise to catch the first rays and the first waves of the new day. Even for those of us who drive past here often, we never grow tired of the stunning view looking out over the sea.

This is a great sandy beach. The car park is a little way from the beach and one has to be aware of when high tide is as the access is restricted at high tide.

This is one of my favourtie places in Wellington alongside Mt Victoria lookout and the Brooklyn Wind Turbine. Grab some fish and chips from the Chippery and enjoy a picnic on the beach, or on the boatshed roofs if you want be like the cool kids :D

It was a great route to head up to Cape Reinga via 90 Mile Beach, thoroughly happy booking a Tour to take us right along the beach & the highlight of the trip was Sand Surfing the Dunes, so I would definitely recommend this trip

This day with guide Jo was loads of fun. It was truly amazing to drive one hour out of Auckland and experience the glorious Wild West Coast. The walks and the beach were stunning and the food at the Piha cafe has excellent. Jo was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide.
