Ballyhornan is a sandy beach surrounded by cliffs. It is located on the Lecale Way and the Ballyhornan Coastal Path goes to the south. Guns Island lies just in the bay. On the horizon it is possible to see the Isle of Man. The beach is popular with canoe & kayakers as it is on the South East Coast Canoe Trail.

One of several great beaches in the area. Backs onto the wonderful Crawfordsburn Country Park with many walks, ample parking, public toilets and a cafe. The beach sits on the North Down Coastal Path which provides a beautiful walk from Hollywood to Bangor. There is a massive green area for families to picnic and BBQ and on warm days there's usually an ice cream van there.

I like to travel to Dundrum in my camper and chill out. After a visit to dog friendly Paws fur Tea cafe I park up at the other side of Dundrum at the park grassy picnic area and walk along to the fishermens cottages or just around the housing area at the waters side. I have been along the bay at the Newcastle side as well. It is a quieter spot than Newcastle and an enjoyable area tu chill out fur an evening. Highly recommended.

Beautiful walk along Bangor esplanade. Lovely view out to sea. Plenty of coffee shops to stop and have a break. You can bring your dog.

Decided to go here instead of the busy North Coast and was pleased with the choice. Car park busy but was able to get parked. Toilets a bit smelly and hand dryer was not working; our councils really need to understand the importance of clean toilets for tourist/visitors and the impression it leaves on the location. Beach itself is great and nice and clean with lifeguards on duty. Plenty of room to socially distance and it was mostly filled with families so no yobbos thank goodness. Sun was out with blue skies so really a perfect day to have a picnic and chill out. I will go back and the drive up the coast past St. John's Point and up to Strangford is ideallic.
