This Cocktail Bar / Lounge has hit it out of the ballpark! Fantastic atmosphere located on one of the most beautiful public squares in the Netherlands (het Vrijthof, Maastricht), in a classic french building overflowing with old world charm. To keep things modern the cocktails are dynamic and fresh and after 10pm a live DJ lays his deep house tracks only adding to the experience. A must treat for everyone visiting Maastricht and locals alike. I wish the great friendly owners all the best for a long drink filled future... ????????

Finished dinner and fancy some great live music? Or maybe you want play pool first, like me, then eat and THEN enjoy brilliant/boss/cool live music? The Waterhole had it all! Since it has been under new management, (i founf out at the bar) The Waterhole boasts an excellent restaurant upstairs with your own Beer tap!...Three pool tables next to the bar and stage...the friendliest barstaff...State of the art sound and live mixing from every corner of the venue via iPad (and I know a few things about sound!)...a great choice of "frosty pints", bottled beers, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks...and above all....some of the best LIVE MUSIC EVERY NIGHT...with styles on the programme which I found on Instagram and Facebook, ranging from solo acoustic to full on rock, blues, funk, soul, rap and ROCK! Melkweg

Melkweg stands for pop culture in the most broad of senses. Each year, hundreds of concerts, club nights, films and music films, theatre performances, expositions and multidisciplinary events together attract more than 400,000 visitors. The venue is located in the only surviving factory building on the Amsterdam canal ring, a former sugar and, later, milk factory. This historical building houses two concert halls, a cinema, a theatre, and an exposition space, which each can be used separately or combined together. In the Melkweg, established names can be seen alongside new talent and emerging styles get the chance to reach a broader audience. The diversity of its programming and visitors, together with its different spaces and special location, have for years made the Melkweg a unique place.

Been to a couple of concerts here in the last year or so, Tarrus Riley & more recently Bad Manners. One of the concerts was in the bigger hall which must have had the highest stage I have ever seen which makes the rush to get to the front not really that important as no matter where we stood we had a great view. Bad Manners was in the smaller hall which was really intimate and had a balcony which provided an excellent view. There were plenty of lockers around to store anything you needed to and entrance was very straight forward. The Melkweg is in a great location right next to bars, restaurants etc.

Wynand Fockink

In around 1679, Wynand Fockink opened his spirits and liqueur distillery on the Pijlsteeg in the bustling city center of Amsterdam. In those days distilleries usually included a tasting house and a shop; Wynand Fockink's was no exception. Today, three centuries later, the Pijlsteeg distillery contains an extraordinary collection of antique bottles in premises still furnished in the style of the seventeenth century. Wynand Fockink has continued, throughout the years, to specialize in liqueurs and jenevers which you can still see being made in the distillery. Join one of our guided tours, learn all about how our products are made and choose your favorite from our superb range of Dutch distilled products.

My husband and I spent a few days in Amsterdam, and included a walking tour of the Red Light District in our itinerary. Our guide, Stan, asked if we'd like to stop for a drink somewhere, and we soon found ourselves here at Wynand Fockink. What a great place! It's tiny and cramped and noisy and busy, but that just adds to the ambience. The jenever liquors are phenomenal; I tried 6-8 different ones and really enjoyed every single one of them. The bartenders were fun and friendly and more than happy to guide us as we explored the MANY flavors available. We had so much fun here, that we made a special second trip back the following day for another drink at the bar, as well as the purchase of several bottles from the shop next door.
