Have you read George Orwell's essay about The Moon Under Water, a fictitious perfect pub. If it wasn't based on The Globe, it should have been. I drink their Strongarm, brewed locally, cellared brilliantly and served slightly chilled with a 2 inch head, nectar. Always a welcome, roaring real fires and traditional decor make it feel like pubs used to do, regulars and occasionals are greeted with equal warmth. You'll go a long, long way to find a better proper local.

Always enjoy popping in here - usually a Porter or a Stout to keep my interest up - and during the week one can often get a cracking pork pie for about £1.20. We like the Sunday quiz and the new bar arrangements have worked a treat. This place, along with the Globe, are our go-to pubs

Well here we go I was told yesterday that we we’re coming here for my dads birthday 23rd April 1019. To be totally honest I am so glad this place was booked from walking in to leaving the full experience was excellent thanks to the barman not sure of your name but you were very professional. We ordered the garlic mushrooms as a starter then opted for the light bite chicken parmo WOW light bite couldn’t even eat it all. Very impressive menu and the Stella was top rank best pint I have had In a while. Would highly recommend this pub if your looking for good quality food.

The list of "We Don't Do" is well documented and sets the tone for the Rat Race. I have been to the pub on a number of occasions and I must say the sheer simplicity of the pub is brilliant in that within seconds of sitting down you are invariably chatting away with those sitting adjacent and on adjoining tables. The beers change on a regular basis and are always served in excellent condition. An absolute gem for those that enjoy a pint of real ale or cider.
