Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Located on Ile Notre-Dame, the 4.361 km-long Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve hosts the Grand Prix du Canada, as well as biking, in-line skating, jogging and walking enthusiasts! PARTIAL CLOSURE The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will be partially closed to cyclists, pedestrians and inline skates enthusiasts from May 15 to September 4, 2017 due to the mounting, the hosting and demounting of major events, to maintenance work done on the circuit in preparation for the Grand Prix du Canada, and to the STM bus circuit to Jean-Dore beach. This partial closure means two things: • The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will be accessible to cyclists, pedestrians and inline skates enthusiasts for only 43 non consecutive days this summer, from May 15 to September 4, 2017. Visite the Parc Jean-Drapeau website for the detailed schedule. • A portion of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the "Hairpin" area, will be inaccessible at all time time from May 15 to September 4, 2017.

Firstly, great idea by them to have a 30kph speed limit with the threat of fines, because there's no way without that in place I wasn't heading into that last chicane and seeing just how close I could get my Corolla to the Wall of Champions. Maybe I'm just that much of a nerd, but a free trip around an F1 track. Thanks!

Hands down if you are into the thrill of mortar sports the "Formula One Grand Prix of Montreal,Canada" is a must experience! The race track is located on a neighboring man made island (Ile Notre Dame), and named after a native son "Circuit Giles Villeneuve" (first time winner), who's son Jacques, is also the first & only Canadian F1, Indy Car, and Indy 500 World Champion ever. THIS CIRCUIT HAS MAJOR HISTORY (SINCE 1978)! Most, if not all, of the world's F1 circuits are special in their own right, however, the Montreal GP is exceptional! Although the city is interestingly multicultural it is predominately bilingual (French/English), and very unique in that this Canadian metropolis makes for the simplest & cheapest way to get to Europe without having to cross an ocean for any North American citizen...lol! That being said, Montreal really lights up during Grand Prix weekend! The vast majority of the population is very proud and enthusiastic about this world class annual event. Everyone makes it a point to get in on the action that takes place throughout the city's various boroughs such as Little Italy (with it's joyously crazy Ferrari fans), China Town, Giffintown, and notably the heart of downtown from Peel to Crescent streets. In general, Montreal's erratic weather is very cooperative during this event accentuating beyond doubt, that Montreal is right up there with the world's most vibrant cities during this spectacular event! Do yourself a favor and enjoy a GP weekend in Montreal next year!
