Carole LaRoache has painted her warriors and wolves and shamans for years and they still continue to mesmerize one. They are beautiful, full of life and color and yet amazingly calming and empathetic.

Constructed in 1610 by the Tlaxcalan Indians of Mexico, who came to New Mexico as servants of the Spanish, this is the oldest church still in use in the country.
An outstanding example of preserved Adobe architecture, San Miguel Chapel is considered to be the oldest church structure in the United States. The chapel is thought to have been built around 1610 and rebuilt and restored multiple times over the centuries. The wooden altar screen dates from 1798 and its painting of various Saints date back to the mid 18th century. Around the walls of the sanctuary are 14 stations of the cross carved of pine. Just beyond the communion rail is a bit of the original dirt floor and sanctuary steps. On the afternoon of our visit a pianist and violinist were rehearsing for a concert and the chapel was filled with beautiful music. Admission was a mere $1.00

This was the first place I wound up in Santa Fe basically because I got lost entering the city and was early to check in to my B&B. It was a Friday and it was free. It was very quiet probably because of the snow that had recently arrived in town. However the exhibitions were informative and a lot of fun. The opera exhibit has a terrific activity requiring you to place a plastic gold coin into a slot to enjoy a light and music show; the last step is for you to throw an artificial rose onto the "stage."

The O’Keeffe Welcome Center includes a store, classroom, amenities, and check-in for tours of the O’Keeffe Home and Studio in Abiquiu, the Center serves as a gateway to the Rio Chama valley, with information about O’Keeffe and the rich history and culture of the area. Tours of the Home & Studio run seasonally from March – November with advance reservations and payment.
This is a small museum, well set out with a mixture of O'Keeffe's artwork. Flower pictures, abstract drawings, bone paintings, photographs, New Mexico landscape paintings and New York skyline paintings along with a short film and timeline of her life. There was also a glass case containing her paint box and utensils. I loved it! We downloaded the museum's app on to our phones and so we did a self audio tour which gave us time to properly look at the paintings.

Art lovers will delight in Santa Fe's many famous painters and photographers.
Near the Plaza, this museum is a must for, especially, first time visits to Santa Fe. We visited late afternoon on a Saturday and it was very quiet. Lovely variety of art and sculptures. Beautiful courtyard and gardens. The display on the history of Lake Mead was very educational and thought provoking. As we left, patrons were arriving for a chamber music event. Definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend.
