Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings. Stepping into Gaudí’s Church of the Sacred Family is a bit like falling through the looking glass - a journey that you can continue with a visit to Park Güell. Sip sangria at a sidewalk café in Las Ramblas while watching flamboyant street performers, then create your own moveable feast by floating from tapas bar to tapas bar.

The Museu Picasso in Barcelona is a key reference for understanding the formative years of Pablo Picasso. The genius of the young artist is revealed through the 4,251 works that make up the permanent collection. Furthermore, the Museu Picasso, opened in 1963, also reveals his deep relationship with Barcelona: an intimate, solid relationship that was shaped in his adolescence and youth, and continued until his death. The Museum is very rich in regard to work from the formative years in the life of the artist; it is practically exhaustive up to the Blue Period. The Museum also houses an important representation of works from 1917, and the series Las Meninas (1957) as well as a comprehensive print collection.

The museum is housed in several seamlessly connected stone buildings Audio guide provides excellent educational overview as you proceed through the many rooms. While the collection emphasizes Picasso’s early years, it does include paintings from throughout his life- including cubist and rivierra periods. The addition of draft sketches provide insight into the master’s process. An overall delightful, interesting must see in the Gothic Quarter. High recommendations

We knew about the articket and tried several times to purchase two passes before we left for Barcelona, but were unable to get the website to work even on three devices. When we arrived at the Placa de Catalunya, we saw the kiosk and purchased our passes right away. They were a fantastic buy even though we didn't have time to see every one of the museums. Strongly recommend the articket if you plan to see even three of the sites. Hopefully, website issues can be resolved so that more of those interested are able to purchase the passes.
