Bellefonte Art Museum

The Bellefonte Art Museum celebrates the human spirit through the arts and recognizes the importance of art in our lives by: • Exhibiting & selling art by local artists from our Artist Registry • Providing creative enrichment for individuals, families & children • Exhibiting artistic and cultural shows from outside the area. The museum features a permanent exhibition in a historically significant room with an art installation commemorating the work of the Underground Railroad in the Bellefonte area. The exhibit contains information about the operations of the Underground Railroad, art work depicting the courage and suffering of the enslaved African Americans and stories about the local citizens who helped and supported them. Our goal is to make the arts accessible to everyone, thus the museum is free and open to the public.

Allegory Gallery

We are a creative space that's one part bead store, one part jewelry boutique, one part fine art gallery, and one part gift shop. The aim of Allegory Gallery is to promote artisan craftspeople, inspire the community to explore their creativity, and act as a focal point for classes and artistic education in the area. Located just one hour from Pittsburgh, PA, and 30 minutes from Greensburg, PA, we offer a vast selection of beads, gemstones, beading supplies, art, as well as beading and jewelry classes in the scenic, historic old fort town of Ligonier, PA. We welcome you to come spend the day with us in Ligonier, and to visit all the small businesses and family-owned shops in town.

Lovely little bead shop with lots of beautiful options. The owners are really helpful and they offer classes to learn how to make your own jewelry. I love that they feature local artists in their shop. If they don't have it, I'm sure that they will be happy to help you find it. I highly recommend them.

Southern Alleghenies Museum Of Art At Bedford

Reviewed By youthgoes - Lewisburg, United States

I had been wanting to check out one of the SAMA galleries for quite some time, and this was the first one I was able to travel to. Their original museum is on the campus of Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA, and their main location is in Altoona. There are two additional satellites in Ligonier and Johnstown as well. Apparently, this is the longest-running satellite museum system in the country as well. This particular location is located in a beautifully preserved historic building known as the Anderson House, built around 1813. It is next door to the house which President George Washington stayed in while reviewing troops to combat the Whiskey Rebellion in Western PA in 1794, and there is history in this area going back to the French and Indian War with a fort and Native American history as well. This museum features wonderful exhibits by local and national artists, such as Robert L. Bowden, and they have 1 gallery downstairs and 2 upstairs. These exhibits rotate on a regular basis, admission is affordable, and the staff is very nice. There is also a small gift shop, and the historical aspects of the house are previously maintained and restored, including original 1813 oak wood flooring which shines like the sun. A great place for couples, families, or anyone who appreciates good art and culture locally. Enjoy!
