Since I was last in Ottawa four years ago Ottawa Art Gallery in Daly Street has spawned a large cube with an entrance at the end of MacKenzie King Bridge, shortened its name to OAG (GAO in French), spruced itself up, added some welcome new facilities and generally brought itself into the twenty-first century. The John Ruddy cube (painted white not red) houses temporary exhibition spaces on each of its four floors. Today on the ground floor next to the shop paintings by Heidi Conrod called Magic Mirrors; on the first sculptural light installations by Juan Gevers; on the second works by eminent Canadian artists from the Firestone Collection. The biggest innovations, however, are on the lower ground floor where there is a large airy cafe and a children’s play room.

Orange Art Gallery has become a permanent player in Ottawa's growing arts scene since opening in April 2010. We represent a very talented group of contemporary artists from Ottawa and the surrounding areas. Orange Art Gallery has relocated to the "Hipster and Trendy" City Centre Area and re-opened the doors in Spring 2014. Our new home is a beautiful historic building which used to house the Bank for CN rail 100 years ago. The 5000 square feet building has been renovated to feature local contemporary art and includes art studios and catering in the lower level. The New Orange offers a unique venue space to celebrate wedding receptions, parties etc. and there is plenty of parking. Orange Art Gallery is open 11 am to 5 pm from Wednesday to Sunday and open late every Thursday night until 9 pm. Orange Art Gallery also works closely with interior designers, decorators and home stagers to help them find the perfect artwork for their residential and commercial clients.
