Bridlington Contemporary Gallery

OPENING TIMES Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 10 am - 5 pm We are based right in the heart of Bridlington, a bustling seaside town with beautiful beaches and a working harbour. We are based on the South Side of Bridlington near the harbour

Reviewed By Hullfolk

We have visited Bridlington Contemporary, both as visitors and more recently, as exhibitors. Don't be fooled by its location , almost on Bridlington sea front, this is a gallery, where Art is taken very seriously and is displayed in a professional manner. The gallery is run by a dedicated team of four, on a non profit basis, which is so refreshing in this day and age and allows the gallery to operate totally independently and in an innovative way, allowing the widest range of talent opportunity to exhibit. The team are invariably open and welcoming , which makes visits an absolute pleasure. I would advise anyone visiting Bridlington to pay s visit to this gem of a gallery ( just check the opening hours ) as it's not open every day.

Humber Street Gallery

Located in the Fruit Market cultural quarter, Humber Street Gallery is being opened as part of the Hull UK City of Culture 2017 programme. The three storey gallery in a former fruit and vegetable warehouse will present a range of contemporary visual art, design, film, photography and craft throughout 2017, with a cafe and rooftop bar for visitors. Humber Street Gallery helps cement Hull’s reputation as a significant cultural destination, for visual arts in particular. It follows national acclaim for the Ferens Art Gallery, which recently reopened following its £5.2m refurbishment by Hull City Council, and the Brynmor Jones Library at the University of Hull, which has also recently been refurbished with a £28-million investment and is now able to bring major and diverse exhibitions to the city. Closed on Mondays apart from Bank Holiday Mondays. Open late until 8pm the first Thursday of every month.

I visit the gallery regularly on all different occasions. We love to take our dogs out on a weekend or week night for a stroll around the marina and stop for a beer or two, this is our favorite bar/cafe. The staff are always super fussy of the dogs and the dogs get a bowl of water on arrival, the beer is lovely and the coffee too and its a nice atmosphere. The beauty of this place is that is doesn't stop there, if you visit whilst the gallery is open then you can bring your dogs round the gallery! The art is different every time I visit so i am always intrigued and interested to see what they have got. On a summer afternoon or night, the rooftop bar is a great place to go with friends, great views over the harbor and humber street and a chilled atmosphere. So overall great for all times of day with or without dogs.
