Art gallery of professional artist Stephen Bennett. The gallery, consisting of 2 rooms, houses a large collection of Stephen's original paintings and also a range of limited edition prints. His work includes landscapes and figurative paintings based mostly on the landscape and people of Donegal. You will find paintings, large and small, of coastal and bogland scenes in acrylic, mixed media or pastel as well as scenes of musicians in full flight or farmer's at the mart. Stephen loves to draw and you will find many drawings, of a range of subjects, in graphite or indelible pen. To these he sometimes adds color washes producing his own distinctive pen and wash technique. Stephen likes his work to be accessible to everyone and he always has a range of small originals in the studio gallery as well as a collection of limited edition prints. A warm welcome awaits visitors to the gallery and this artist is happy to talk about his work.

This unique shop/gallery stocks only Donegal craft and design work and is run and staffed by the craft_makers themselves. The crafts include jewellery, pottery, textiles, wood and hand_painted silk. Prices range from 3 to 500 euros.
After walking a nearby beach, we had lunch here and then had a few minutes to look in the shops. This one is not to be missed. It is made up of arts and crafts for locals. Everything the shop was desirable and quite well made. Many art treasures.

Ballagh studio is the most northerly Art Gallery in Ireland. It nestles on the mountainside overlooking Trawbreaga Bay, a nature reserve for wintering geese and sea birds. Our Fingerpost "PAINTINGS" will direct you to our studios, where there will be a warm welcome. Ros Harvey is a native of Malin, and returned in 1988 with her Printmaking partner Tim Stampton, who hails from Newfoundland, Canada. Together they have renovated and constructed a gallery/showroom, print workshop, their own ateliers and a framing shop. Everything they do is "hands-on" and their work is exclusive to Ballagh Studio. ROS is a Pastellist, a Member of the Royal Ulster Academy and The Pastel Society of Ireland. Her main interest is painting the breathtaking coast of the Inishowen peninsula. TIM, from his printmaking workshop, utilizing antique printing presses, has produced a number of Limited Edition Books, ranging from Folktales to Irish Mythology.

Slieve League Cliffs are beautiful and remote. Enjoying the scenery without a guide can be very enjoyable but we were extremely pleased to have scheduled a guided tour offered by the Slieve League Cultural Centre. Our guide, Paddy Clarke, drove us up the hill in a comfortable van. He gave us plenty of time to enjoy the view and then took us on a walking tour of the area where he shared his extensive knowledge of the history and culture of the area. He pointed out landmarks that linked the United States to Ireland. He explained their meaning with contagious enthusiasm! The area was significant during World War II as the first land seen by pilots flying over the Atlantic. There are still traces of stone markers on the ground that were used to communicate location and directions to the pilots! Paddy pointed out many other significant points of interest that we probably would have missed had we not taken the guided tour. The guided tour offered through the Slieve League Cultural Centre made our visit to the cliffs complete. We highly recommended it. The Cultural Centre is located in the Ti Linn Café & Craft Shop where you can have a meal or snack before or after your tour and shop for unique local craft items.

The Art House is a unique 21st Century Irish Art/Craft Gallery. The gallery is also the Studios of (owner) Independent, Multidisciplinary and Award Winning Artist Brian O'Doherty. The aim of the Art House Gallery is to showcase the best Arts/Crafts of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Immensely enjoyed my visit to this fabulous gallery. Work had an international aspect as well as depicting the Irish landscape in a multifaceted way. My visit was all the more enriched by a personal sharing from artist owner whose work was really the star of the show.

Mary Crowley Artists Studio and Gallery is a working studio, where you will be warmly welcomed, Mary's current work will be on her easel. Mary paints traditional Donegal Watercolour Landscapes, Seascapes,Street scenes and Wildlife. There are lots of parking spaces available outside the Gallery. Mary's Original Paintings are very much influenced by the gorgeous Inishowen Peninsula. Both Original works of Art and Limited Edition Prints are on view. Located Between Mamore Gap and Glenevin Waterfall on The Wild Atlantic Way. After travelling down the Gap from Buncrana side continue along the middle road until you pass Tiernasligo School - the studio is just past the school on the right. Or from Clonmany pass The Rusty Nail pub and keep going straight about 1.5 miles and the studio sign is on your left.
If you are visiting Inishowen Donegal artist Mary Crowleys studio in Urris is a 'must'. Her studio is truly a hidden gem nestling in the Urris hills on the WildAtlantic Way. She has beautiful framed original works and Limited Edition prints available to buy and very keenly priced too I have to say. We actually found her at work painting away the first time we visited which was a real treat. We've been back many times since. Her watercolors of the local landmarks (also places she has visited abroad) are so delicate and beautifully composed and a perfect memento of Inishowen. I am delighted to say my family now own several Mary Crowley artworks that take pride of place in our rooms at home. Mary is a delight to meet - so welcoming, full of enthusiasm and energy and with a great sense of humor. We usually call ahead now so we dont miss her, that would be so disappointing .
