Closed October to April, summer opening only due to hibernating bats. Reopens first Saturday in April.
I highly recommend you visit this very historic grotto. It was built in the mid-eighteenth century at the then Amwell Manor which belonged to the Scott family. It is the largest shell grotto in the UK. Now in Scotts Road, houses we're built on the former Manor grounds in the 1960's. The grotto is a Grade 1 listed building and was refurbished in 1991 and opened by Lord Montague. It is now held by a Trust. Well worth a visit, check opening times on it's website. Enjoy.

This 850 yr old church is worth a visit, has beautiful architecture lots of history just an amazing building. The old cemetery to walk through is another history in itself. It’s like learning about village life through the inscriptions on the old graves. Very enjoyable

Wander along the path way here and you could forget that you are in Hemel Hempstead. The planting has been beautifully undertaken and whenever I have taken this route it has always been clean and tidy. There are lots of seating areas too. There is a wooden childrens play area for families and plenty of plants and flowers for everyone to identify or to admire. It is also a lovely way to get from the main town into the Old Town and to Gadebridge Park

Knebworth House is famous worldwide for its rock concerts and as the home of Victorian novelist Edward Bulwer Lytton, who wrote 'It was a dark and stormy night'. This beautiful gothic mansion is situated 29 miles north of London with direct access from the A1(M) at Stevenage. Knebworth offers a great day out for all the family. Delightful gardens extend to 28 acres with Dinosaur trail and maze, walled vegetable garden and herb garden. The historic Deer Park is perfect for picnics, with huge Adventure Playground featuring zip wire, astro and drop slides, water splash play and bouncy castle. Gift shop and Garden Terrace Tea Room. The House, Gardens and Park are open from 12 March to the end of September at the weekend, and also daily during the school holidays. Please check open days before visiting! Plenty of free parking. Dogs on leads welcome in the Park. See the website for full details of open days, online tickets and events programme. Open year round for corporate events and private bookings.

Booked for 12 of us for sunday lunch. We were required to pre order starters and main courses. Stopped here towards end of fab 6/7 mile walking starting in Hemel and travelling via boxmoor/bovingdon/little hay golf course (might be wrong order!) Group had a few starters including mushrooms (delicous v peppery), pate and prawn skewer that looked amazing! Burgers, roasts, salads, scampi all good sized portions served very hot and all those eating had clear plates at the end..the ultimate recommendation. A few were able to enjoy after the chocolate cake ,treacle tart and what looked the best to me, the Apple crumble!!
