Gour is dotted with many specimens of medieval architecture, out of which the Dakhil Darwaza is the most spectacular one. Surrounded by mango gardens, this was the gateway of the erstwhile Lakhnauti, the Muslim name of Gour. The architecture of this gate is impressive. There are some beautiful terracotta panels. It is also well maintained by the ASI.

This happens to be the place where the Malla Rulers of Rarh Bangla executed their prisoners of war and the place is more correctly spelled as "Goom Ghar", meaning "room for vanishing". The entire architecture seemed to be made of red earthern fire-bricks and terracotta. I also noticed some ancient weapons conserved inside.

It's good for it's own beauty but local boys are very bad. They are always there to disturb you. They say you can't take picture of any brick. Can't sit on brick, but they are already seating on it. We're local guides, it's very bad and insulting when someone came and disturb us for no cause ! Area is really amazing for it's heritage.
