Cuicul Roman Ruins

Reviewed By Patrick34238 - Sarasota, United States

The Djemila (translation: beautiful) Roman ruins of the ancient city Cuicul are easily accessible by road from Constantine or Setif. Except for a few buildings, only the street paving and the foundations are preserved. That's why a guide is needed (they're not working on Tuesdays) or a guidebook (a good one is for sale at the shop but is available in French only). The theater, a temple, a Christian monument are well preserved. I preferred Timgad for its typical Roman checkerboard plan but Djemila offers another type of city and some better preserved buildings.
